$SQNM $ILMN $DGX $LH Wedbush #NIPT note: Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) specialist checks last week were more
optimistic on the “average risk” NIPT opportunity post the ACOG practice
advisory. We spoke with a couple of MFMs last week (including a Wedbush
sponsored call on 4/8) following the Ariosa “average risk” study published in NEJM
on 4/1/16. These MFMs felt that the fact that ACOG issued a practice advisory the
day after the publication was “something they never do” and is “very telling”. We
believe the ACOG comments increase the likelihood of an outright
recommendation for NIPT in “average risk” women later this year. Additionally, the
positive inflection in ILMNs NIPT business in the last two quarters seems to be
aided by pressure from Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield in New Jersey (to keep
NIPT in-network). We believe additional payor pressure in US, int’l expansion and
average risk catalysts set up a strong case for cont’d meaningful NIPT growth....
