We'll cope when we accept Al Shabaab is now a player in the Kenyan political millieu with a barbaric ideology, focus, strategy and an appeal to a minority of disenfranchised and alienated - especially young men. It's ours now - Kenyan, has been for over 1.5 years. The usual famine-related PR stunts won't cut it. Al Shabaab is emerging out of our own contradictions cleverly exploited by cadre that seems more sophisticated than the government's spin doctors.
