A good Day to remember George Ryan

Every day is a good day to remember George Ryan... Nearly two years ago Celtic Supporters gathered in Glasgow outside the Crystal Bell Pub on the Gallowgate, The fans were set upon by officers from Strathclyde Police and the new National Focus unit set up to police the new so called anti Sectarian Legislation otherwise known as The Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications (Scotland) Act 2012. At about 1.30 that Saturday George took a phone call from Jeanette Findlay from the Celtic Trust telling him that Fans were being beaten by the Police. He immediately took to twitter to see what was going on, His first tweet was ''Alex Salmond's Stormtroopers battering Celtic Supporters'' I had seldom seen him so angry. Over the next few weeks it was all guns blazing Contacting everyone he could. I have here beside me his first hand written draft of a letter to Alex Salmond, written in haste and anger by the looks of it. George attended all the meetings where witnesses gave statements and did everything he could to help the supporters. Never one to shy away from anything he was in his element. he met with the most Senior cops and was asked why he had called them Stormtroopers? he laughed at the cop asking if he was under arrest.... The stance he took lead to a lot of problems for us as a family and for others including the the staff at the City Chambers who took abusive phone calls meant for Him, He frequently bought cakes all 'round to show the staff how much he appreciated them. It's never easy to put your head up in Glasgow as an elected Politician and do the unpopular thing.... I hope he's looking down today, The Supporters have won this battle and he would have loved that,
