Boromir lay on his die, a hand lightly tracing the sleeping features of the person sleeping beside him. Kíli, the smith of the Undercity, whom Boromir had come to in hopes of an un-superstitious craftsman. He had found that, and with it he had found the truth of the stone he wanted carving, found in a sister and friend, and found, with her guidance, something warm and special, a link to Kíli that drew him back to the smithy again and again.

To start with it had been as someone who had found a new friend and wished to spend time in their company, but it had quickly started to change, as Boromir found himself reasoning out any half-sensible reason come down to see Kíli, just to spend time in his company, talking about whatever came to mind.

Elennárë did nothing to discourage this, and in fact seemed to more often than not be on the edge of her seat, she was that ready to agree to visit the dwarf smith. She was always glad to have someone she could spend time talking to as well, though Boromir was quite sure she took a particular glee in teasing him about how he felt about Kíli, something she managed to do without making him feel like he was doing something wrong. He did appreciate that, since even Faramir's well-meaning worry about how well he hid his few-and-far-between relationships left him feeling a bit guilty and ashamed.

But he had come to see Kíli this evening because he had word from his father that he would be heading back to Osgiliath, to take over leadership there. He already knew that Kíli would likely come with the army, working to support the war effort onsite, but Boromir had simply wished to be the one to tell him first.

And it had all gone from there, with the closeness they already had drawing them into each other's arms, and a kiss that even now came to Boromir's mind and made him smile, and after that... He shivered in the memory of the pleasure that had followed, the warmth and closeness and intoxicating intimacy.

And now he lay looking at the peaceful look on Kíli's face as he slept, struggling to believe this had really happened, yet unable to deny it either.

A soft sound of a round stone rolling over stone floor caught his ear and he turned to reach down to the floor, feeling something nudge his fingers only a moment after. Taking hold of Elennárë, he brought her speckled form up to look at. He did not say anything, but smiled as he felt her mental touch, before tucking her under the pillow and settling down again, wrapping his arm around Kíli and letting himself drift.
