Quest-verse Snipet for @SonofDari

The news that the Silmarils walked Middle Earth was quick to get out. The exact details of what happened at Erebor were more or less confused, but what managed to be known to almost all who heard was thus:

The Silmarils were found in Erebor. They had living spirits that could appear as Elves (this point was confused, some reports said they appeared as the race of Men, some mentioned dwarves as well).
Some reports said two Silmarils, some claimed three, saying the third appeared as a man.

Claims stated the power of the Silmarils had been what killed the dragon.

Mention was made of Maedhros, the son of Fëanor being alive and present, and speculation had to wonder if he had been in possession of the Silmarils all the time since the First Age.

However despite the parts that were less sure, the things that were known was that the Silmarils themselves had claim alliance with the House of Durin, refusing association with an Elven king who was born in Doriath. Soon after the battle against the orcs some were calling the "Battle of Five Armies" while others called it "the Battle of Dale" for having happened on the land between the ruins of that city and the gates of the Mountain, Kíli, the second heir of Thorin Oakenshield the dwarven king reclaiming Erebor, had left the mountain and with him went Maedhros, supposedly so that Kíli could study smithing with the legendary Ñoldor prince. As they left however, all signs of the presence of the Silmarils also vanished from Erebor.

To the various nations and groups to hear about the events at Erebor it seemed a foregone conclusion that maybe Maedhros took the Silmarils - now referred to as being his sisters - with him as he and the dwarf prince departed.

It created a mystery, those who held power across Middle Earth wondered what it would mean that the legendary jewels were somewhere in the world again. Some leaders sent out agents to investigate the matter firsthand, maybe even try to track the Silmarils and those with them. For those who did manage to get so far, word that Prince Kíli had returned to Cardemir - the home-in-exile of his people - to call Durin's Folk home to Erebor was uncovered, and mention was found that he had met with his mother and a sister kept protected up until then.

Rumours heard only to those with connections to the Elven peoples told that Maedhros, two Silmarils, Prince Kíli, and a few other dwarves had stopped briefly in Rivendell on their way west, guests of Elrond's sons while there. An even less-known tidbit of information had that Lord Maedhros and his sisters sought the rumours about his brother still being alive, intending to investigate their validity.

Yet the Silmarils seemed to vanish almost as surely as they had in the First Age, unseen but much talked about.
