A few people have asked if Julius Randle would be eligible for Rookie of the Year in 2015-16 if he, as the Lakers now believe, will miss the rest of this season after breaking his leg in his first pro game Tuesday. I'm checking w/the league, but believe that he would not be because he did play (all too briefly, unfortunately) in a regular season game during his rookie season. If you recall, Blake Griffin won the ROTY in 2010-11 after missing every game of what would have been his rookie season (2009-10) due to a knee injury. Randle's situation is so unique, though, it wouldn't surprise me if there was special dispensation given by the league in his case.
