Review: Feeling at Home at Corliss Institute Group
In this Corliss Institute group review, the main thing one must not fail to appreciate is the homely character of the website. Corliss Institute's logo alone portrays two moving hands coming together into a stylized clasp which also appears so much like a group of people dancing in celebration. Looking at the photos on the site also provides an overview of the kind of work the institute does on behalf of individuals and families it serves in Warren, RI.
A quick look then at the homepage summarizes what Corliss Institute, Inc. is, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, community-based agency engaged in providing services for adults with developmental and other forms of disabilities. Corliss specializes on caring for the deaf or those with hearing loss and/or those with varying modes of communication. Corliss recognizes that the people they serve have specific needs. Its main goal is to work toward satisfying the needs of those individuals for them to be able to "lead fulfilling and satisfying lives in the community." Humanitarian work never ceases to inspire people. Corliss, from a quick view of its website, does it in an honestly simple fashion that the sincerity is quite apparent, not just from the photos but from the brief description of its corporate and social goals and programs.
The diversity of disabilities and conditions Corliss group covers among people 18 years of age and above tells us how much it has developed it capacity to provide assistance and support for those people. They provide home-based, residential as well as Day Program services of various kinds to accommodate as many people who require their services. Now we know why the logo portrays two hands coming together: Corliss Institute, Inc. has its hands full of the challenging task of fulfilling the needs of people of various requirements. Yet, in spite of that, it appears it has striven to pursue the task with greater dedication and success.
All in all, Corliss sees to it that it sticks to the "core values of safeguarding clients' dignity and individuality, providing excellent and appropriate service, fostering a meaningful sense of community, and providing agency leadership that advocates the highest standards of clinical, legal/ethical treatment and innovation within the field." That summarizes it vision and mission in its admirable work among the people of Warren, RI. That town, though essentially unknown and unheralded in that big land, is blessed to have within its limits a group that has the heart and soul to reach out to the disadvantaged. With people who have that as their overarching desire to serve others in need, who will not feel at home at Corliss Institute, Inc.'s program venues? People do have many complaints to rant or shout about, for such is the character of life. Corliss Institute group exists to diminish, if not eradicate those complaints and to help people face the challenges in life by finding ways for them to live meaningful and fruitful lives.
