NSCDC harps on improved synergy

Abuja - The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has called for more robust synergy and intelligence sharing among all security agencies in the country.

The agency said that this would help in addressing the security challenges in the country.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the corps, Mr Emmanuel Okeh, made the call in an interview with the News men on Tuesday in Abuja.

Okeh said that it became inevitable for security agencies to intensify collaboration to enable them to successfully curb terrorism and insurgency in the country.

"It is very important for us as security agencies to collaborate more so that we can collectively win the war against terrorism and insurgency in the country,’’ he said.

He said the NSCDC was working closely with the Police in order to forge a more harmonious working relationship.

The officer also stressed the need for community policing, intelligence gathering, training of security personnel and adequate funding in order to end security challenges in the country.

"The war on terrorism cannot be won just with arms and ammunition; we must evolve a robust framework for interagency,’’ he said.

Okeh, however, expressed optimism that with the renewed cooperation among the security agencies the war on terrorism would soon be a thing of the past.
