Qatar to kick off 2015 MotoGP campaign on March 22

The 2015 MotoGP world championship campaign will kick off under the Losail International Circuit floodlights on March 22.

MCN obtained a final winter testing schedule that was approved in Misano yesterday (Friday) that confirmed the season opener will be run over four nights, with practice commencing on Thursday, March 19.

The 2015 winter testing schedule will kick off as originally intended at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia on February 4 and will run over four days. The fourth day though will be exclusively dedicated to official test riders evaluating new Michelin tyres, which will be introduced in 2016.

The second Sepang test will also be run over days, beginning on February 23. The fourth day on February 26 is again exclusively for Michelin tyre testing but will be set aside for all current MotoGP riders like Marc Marquez, Valentino Rossi and Cal Crutchlow.

The pre-season will finish in Qatar with a three-night test in Doha between March 14 and 16.

That test was initially due to be run over four nights to include a Michelin session for one night for official test riders.

But that test will now take on the Monday immediately after the first race on March 23.

A full provisional MotoGP calendar will be released shortly.
