The Dread War

I think it's something that needs addressing.

Players keep mentioning how it's not a real war - compared to the original Infernal War or the Frysteland - but it isn't meant to be a one-off event in the first place.
Back in the day, many players wanted an actual competition between the two alignments. Factions were one way of doing it, but it made no significant impact. Right now, you get to "control" the area (which still has no significant impact), but there is a competition between the two alignments and there are rewards at the end. They may be coreless weapons, or novelty items (i.e. bikes), but it's something to reward you for your effort. It's still PvP, but a bit more rewarding and puts emphasis on the two alignments being sworn enemies.

That's all there is to the Dread War. It's not an event, but a war between the two alignments, and you can then show off your rares or have your name on the Regional Leaderboard. Not everyone cares about these, but there are some people who collect rares, and have their name displayed on the leaderboards for everyone to see.

It likely won't finish anytime soon, because there is no need to end it. It will be the same old, minus the tiered rewards you get, based on the Influence earnt during the war. Having it in-game doesn't stop actual development in terms of story, or new items, or anything, really - merely an incentive to play more for sake of rewards and some fame around the game.
