Chronological Twitter log of 08/03 Les Miles press conference

@JacquesDoucet: Greetings! Les Miles pic.twitter.com/ol480txOUF

@DellengerAdv: Les Miles opens his pre-camp presser by saying his team "get to improve" over the next 29 days.

@HunterPaniagua: Travonte Valentine is still working through the Clearinghouse. Jalen Mills the only other that hasn't reported. No update on JM from Les

@Tiger_Rag: Miles on Valentine: "The communication has been regular" between his high school and NCAA clearinghouse.

@Tiger_Rag: Les: not sure how long it'll take with Jalen Mills. I don't want to "pressure the process in any way."

@TDR_sports: Miles: I think you'll find that certain guys have great starts and other guys will have great starts and great finishes

@DellengerAdv: Miles has not put a deadline on naming a starting QB. "We have to see each day," he said.

@DellengerAdv: Miles on right guard competition: "We have two quality guys. Can't imagine both guys will play significant football."

@Tiger_Rag: Les: later in practice, we'll have "emphasis period." No contact/tackling, but will have competition. Will be game-like conditions.

@TDR_sports: Miles: Practices will be divided in an effort to get more snaps in for every player.

@Tiger_Rag: Miles asked about how many freshmen will be at varsity practice. Les: Not about a number, "it's where is the teaching best."

@DellengerAdv: Jennings and Harris will rotate between working out with morning group and afternoon.

@Tiger_Rag: Les on rule change that allowed assistant coaches more time with players in offseason: "I think it was tremendous." "It gets them ahead."

@TDR_sports: Miles: I really didn't give a thought to where we are ranked

@DellengerAdv: Miles on backup offensive linemen: "I think we have a quality two deep. I think Evan Washington is a guy that plays, starts."

@DellengerAdv: Miles on new playoff: "It's what the American people wanted."

@HunterPaniagua: Neither Jermauria Rasco nor Corey Thompson will be limited in these early practices of camp. Were out all of spring.

@Sheadixon: Sounds like Les Miles has penciled in Hoko Fanaika as the starter at right guard. Would be paired w 4 returning starters.

@DellengerAdv: Miles says he has not been interviewed by anyone from the NCAA concerning the Oklahoma State investigation.

@Tiger_Rag: Les on his frosh WRs: "I've never had a problem with backup receivers learning how to play, especially with guys as talented as these guys."

@DellengerAdv: Miles on veteran O-line: "Talented and capable. I need to have them come to the field ready to play."

@DellengerAdv: Miles on safety positions: "We really like Ronald Martin, Rickey Jefferson. Also like Jamal Adams and John Battle."

@Tiger_Rag: Les on his safeties: like Ronald Martin and Rickey Jefferson there, as well as Adams and Battle (he frequently mentions those two).

@Sheadixon: Les Miles said 1st-team DT's Christian LaCouture and Quentin Thomas have had great summers.

@Tiger_Rag: Greg Gilmore has lost about 20 pounds, Les says.

@TDR_sports: Les: "Frank Herron is a large DE with great mobility."

@Sheadixon: The football schedule is posted in the team room. New addition: Playoff Semi-Finals plaque. pic.twitter.com/oGh08KyiPq

@TDR_sports: That's it for the Les press conference. More coverage coming tomorrow
