CORD NOR ITS LEADERSHIP BEARS NO BLAME ON DIKEMBE CASE....HERE'S WHY!

To all the ignoramuses out there posting silly status updates, please be advised that the political parties fund cannot pay bail, and even if it was the party leader himself, that is tax payers money, which is governed by law and cannot be used to secure release of individuals detained by the courts. In any case when is the last time Jubilee treasury disbursed money to political parties?

Having said that, perhaps it is good to clear the air on a few issues regarding DD's unfortunate case.

LEGAL TEAMS: For one, although CORD provided experienced criminal lawyers to act for DD, he had already appointed his own lawyer out of his on volition. CORD lawyers were left as to observe proceedings from the public gallery. Sadly, DD's lawyer allowed DD to take plea and offered no challenge whatsoever to prosecution's charge that bail be set at Ksh2million.

BAIL: Those that claim because Moses Kuria's was the same amount and precedent had been set are forgetting Robert Alai's similar case that resulted in bail amount being reduced to Ksh50,000.

VOLUNTEERS: There are (unnamed) individuals from the CORD secretariat who voluntarily posted their motor vehicle logbooks as bond for DD amounting well over Ksh4million. These individuals are presently not posting protest notes on social media or apportioning blame on anyone. We all come from different backgrounds and our capabilities are not uniform. Most of us are spending their weekends trying to see who else can volunteer their log books for and on behalf of DD. Wenye magari, can you sacrifice or you just want to blame others except yourself? Hopefully other well wishers can come out with their logbooks so DD can be released first thing on Monday on account of consolidating adequate bond.

ORENGO: Senior counsel James Orengo forcefully took charge of this case late afternoon. This happened sadly again after DD's lawyer had disappeared the whole afternoon with the charge sheet, resurfacing at 4pm which is the deadline for posting bail/bond. There was really nothing anyone could do then.

Expecting CORD or ODM leadership to personally pay bail amounting to Kshs2million for DD is not just unreasonable. It has far reaching ramifications legally and politically. Moreover, just how many people can Raila Odinga sustain in terms of payments for the numerous problems party rank and file experience everyday? Are we being fair?

CORD's enemies will capitalize on this case which we believe is part of a wider plot to cripple opposition. We are focused on getting DD released.
