[TRANS] High Cut Japan - Dongwoon Interview

Q. On the 1st day of sales on the Oricon charts, right after national group Arashi - 2nd place! The new song "Adrenaline" which recorded such a great result, what thoughts did you have after knowing of the results?

DW: This is the first time we are receiving a song from a Japanese composer so it is different from BEAST's style of songs up to this point. At first, it is hard to get used to, but after continual listening, I think it is a good song. It's a new style!

Q. By the way, from who did you hear of the 2nd place results from?

DW: From the internet (laughs) I found out from the picture that the fans uploaded

Q. Have you told the members yet?

DW: I have told the members that we have gotten 2nd place, and the members are really happy. They went, "Yes!!"

Q. "ADRENALINE" that is to be released on May 28th - it's been 6 months! Please elaborate to the Japanese fans about the song theme and key points..

DW: Up until now, there are many songs about break ups, but this time round, the song is about being stronger and manlier - I think you can see a new side to BEAST.

Q. Is there a part that you like?

DW: The opening part by Doojoon, and Junhyung's rap part are what I like.

Q. As it is an original Japanese song, it seems like it will be a different style from what BEAST has had up until now! From what Dongwoon perceives, please tell us what is the new charm point.

DW: It's difficult for me to talk about myself. My charming point...I'll leave that to the fans *(laughs)

Q. It's more of a POP and Rock image this time round as compared to previously.

DW: Singers have to challenge new stuff everyday so we are trying a new type this time around. If the fans like it, I am happy too. I originally like rock.

Q. That was unexpected! Who is your favorite rock artist?

DW: X Japan! (uses his arms to form an "X") I still sometimes listen to Endless Rain.

Q. Tell us about an episode during the filming of the MV.

DW: We filmed in Japan. There are differences between Japanese and Korean filming styles, so it was surprising at the start, but after seeing the finished product, we came out well so it will be good if everyone watched it.

Q. ADRENALINE is a masculine song about someone who falls hard into love and tries to win them over, when Dongwoon-san falls into that kind of love what happens? Are you unable to sleep?

DW: I sleep well usually (laughs), I think I'll be able to sleep well. Right now...because work is more important than love to me I've never thought about it!!! My head it filled with thoughts about music, work, and our fans. I think dating is too early for me right now (laughs).

Q. Visiting Japan by yourself must feel different than usual, how do you feel?

DW: A little... just a little! I feel lonely (laughs).

Q. Did you notify the members that you arrived in Japan?

DW: Yes! I went to Ichiran earlier and sent them a picture of the ramen I like. Everyone was jealous (laughs).

Q. You improved your Japanese so much! What is a Japanese word you memorized recently?

DW: 'Kikubari (consideration)'! I haven't used it yet but I think it's a word that portrays Doojoon-goon's personality! He's very considerate (laughs).

Q. The dance is of a different feel compared to what you have had up until now. Is there a part where you have felt difficult about this?

DW: It was tough on our stamina. This time around, rather than the dancers who have choreographed BEAST's dances, someone else has done it. Is is a new style we are trying in five years so it was tough (laughs). SHOCK or BREATH (SOOM) was tough but this time around there isn't a simple part in the routine...(laughs) The dance for the comeback in Korea has been allocated to this dancer as well so please look forward to it!
