We've been inviterd yesterday to a private screening of The Rover and here is our review

The screening took place inside the office of Metropolitain Film in a small and private cinema room, we were about 20 people among whom were movie bloggers.

Jel's Review :

Little is known about the characters' background or the era they are living in. A massive exodus in search of a job seems to have triggered the population's departure, giving up on this part of the country and giving the impression the time stopped. What we understand is that each inahbitant in this desert is willing to do anything to survive. And Eric (Guy Pearce) is willing to do anything to get his stolen car back. This is this particular event which leads to his encounter with Rey, one of the thieves' brother. This pair will drive through the desert together : Eric needs Rey to get his poperty back and as for Rey, he finds in Eric a father or a big brother that he can follow anywhere

The music in the background had an almost hypnotic effect on me, I couldn't stop looking at the screen even if I'm not a big fan of dramas quand I go to the cinema. And Robert and Guy are extremely convinving and are complementary.

Robert proves to those who still doubt that he's a talented actor ( you can say I'm not objective when we talk about Rob but no problem !) It was the first time I saw Guy on the big screen and he managed to make us feel all his emotions with very short dialogues.

The word I heard a lot around me at the end of the movie was "special" and indeed I share this point of view. So yes, this film is special because he is slow , because there are not a lot of dialogues , because the story can be summed up in only one sentence "a man is looking for his car" but also because Rob and Guy have great presence and above all Rob is completely different in this film compared to the other film you can go and see at the moment in the cinema !
