Thank you for signing the petition letting #Groupon know that it is not acceptable to be offering any shark products on ANY of its websites globally.
So here is where we are at. Since contacting Groupon USA I have received only the standardised response that they send to everyone. They don't seem to be taking this matter seriously.
I have heard from Groupon APAC (Asia-Pacific) the ones who initially banned all shark products. Ms Sophia Lai the Head of Marketing for Groupon APAC has been in touch several times and has been very helpful and understanding.
This was the first reply I had from her on May 13th;
Hi Gary,
It has brought to my attention on your inquiry below. We have asked Groupon US to comply with the same standards as Groupon APAC and they have agreed. The mentioned Shark Cartilage deal has been withdrawn.

I then asked if this was just this one promotion, or a blanket ban globally. I also asked for an official statement.....
This was the second reply on May 14th;
Hi Gary,
We are currently reviewing this in all Groupon markets and are working to align all 48 countries in which we operate.

Sounds promising, but still nothing solid so I persisted and asked for a timeline. This was the last response I had from Groupon APAC;
"Thanks Gary. You can be assured we're taking this matter seriously and have taken immediate steps to align our global position.
Sophia"
So the big question is HOW HAS GROUPON ALIGNED ITSELF?
Have they taken the socially responsible and environmentally ethical route and aligned with Groupon APAC or has it aligned with Groupon USA and decided that it will continue to contribute to the mass slaughter of sharks globally?
I ask you all to share the petition again with your friends but more importantly visit the Groupon Facebook Page in your area and ask them there, or via their twitter @Groupon
