FUNDRAISE AND WIN! You can help @thedavidcook's Team for a Cure reach its fundraising goal AND give yourself a chance to win an awesome prize! Instead of an auction this year, we are inviting everyone to participate in a fundraising challenge. For every $200 you have raised towards your personal fundraising goal by Friday, May 2nd, you will receive ONE entry in a drawing to win one of the various prizes David is personally offering up!

Prizes will include autographed Team Shirts, autographed 2014 Race for Hope T-Shirts, a Ticket and Meet and Greet Package, and more! As our Grand Prizes, David has ordered specific shoes and a new hat for this year’s Race for Hope. These will be autographed by David post-race and will go to our two Grand Prize winners!

To make this clear, every $200 you have raised gets you an additional entry in the drawing, so if you raise $400, you get two entries, and so on. The more you have raised, the higher your chance of winning a prize! Winners will be announced at the Team Acoustic Q&A on May 3rd, but you do not have to be present to win. If you are a virtual runner or cannot attend the Q&A, we will ship your prizes to you if you are a winner!

The last two weeks before the Race for Hope is always the busiest fundraising time, so take advantage of how close we are to the event. If you’ve never tried to fundraise before, the first step is just making the ask. Reach out to friends and family via email, Facebook or in person. You never know who might want to support you and the cause! Make sure you have updated your Personal Page and use the tools in the Participant Center to help you with your fundraising. Need help, download the guide HERE: http://www.braintumorcommunity.org/PDF/RFH_DC_Participant.pdf

To help you get started, here’s an easy How-To on how to raise $400 in one week!

How to raise $400 in one week!
DAY 1: You’ve sponsored yourself by registering for the event (a minimum of $40)
DAY 2: Ask three family members to join your team ($40 each)
DAY 3: Ask five friends to contribute $20 each
DAY 4: Ask four co-workers to contribute $10
DAY 5: Ask five members of a club or organization you belong to for $10 each (these people could be members of your book club, place of worship, cycling or hiking group, etc.)
DAY 6: Ask your employer for a company contribution of $50 (go beyond and ask them to match what you raise!)
DAY 7: You’ve done it! Share your success with your team and motivate them to do the same.

GOOD LUCK everyone! Remember, I am always here to help with fundraising questions or ideas, so don’t hesitate to reach out. If we all participate in this challenge, we will rocket up to first place in the team standings and smash through our first team fundraising goal in no time!

Best,
Deana
