#BuckeyeNation, #OhioState HC Urban Meyer digs at Brady Hoke in Canton speech. (#ScrewBlue & their HC too!)

From Eleven Warriors:

It's been the offseason of poking and prodding Michigan so far.

Ed Warinner already had his well-publicized joke regarding the Rose Bowl and coloring books. Speaking at the Pro Football Hall of Fame Luncheon Club on Monday in Canton, Urban Meyer made sure to play to his audience and deliver a dig at Brady Hoke.

“Next week is a great opportunity for you to show your support of that team up north by calling in sick,” Meyer said, according to CantonRep.com. “I will not be here.”

The speaker on Monday is Hoke. But Meyer didn't end there.

“The largest luncheon club in America? You’re damn right it is,” Meyer said. “Just not next week. If you’re here next week, I’m kicking your (behind).”

Here's the Canton Repsitory article cited in the 11W article:

Urban Meyer knows his audience in Canton

There’s something to be said for knowing your audience. Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer was a stone’s throw away from the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and Meyer was well aware of his audience.

Meyer touched on several areas, including partnering with the Ohio High School Football Coaches’ Association to lobby for more instructional time in the spring for high school coaches, as well as the state of the Buckeyes.

Nothing new was revealed with Ohio State’s depth chart since the spring game. Although, for the first time Meyer mentioned GlenOak running back Bri’onte Dunn after indicating that Ezekiel Elliott is the favorite to start. Regarding Dunn, who scored the Gray’s go-ahead touchdown in Saturday’s spring game win over the Scarlet, Meyer tempered his enthusiasm.

“He had a good spring,” Meyer said. “But it’s time for him to be having a great spring, not a good spring.”
Before Meyer spoke, newly elected Hall of Famer Derrick Brooks stopped by Tozzi’s on 12th because he was in town visiting the Hall of Fame. It was also noted that the Hall of Fame Luncheon Club now has 625 members, making it the largest club of its kind in the country.

“Next week is a great opportunity for you to show your support of that team up north by calling in sick,” Meyer said. “I will not be here.”

Next week’s speaker is Michigan head coach Brady Hoke.

Meyer spoke proudly of Ohio’s role in the history of football. Last week at OSU’s annual football coaches clinic, Meyer paid tribute to Paul Brown and had the coaches of the state’s two NFL teams speak.

Meyer pointed out what later became the NFL was formed in a meeting a few miles away in downtown Canton.

“The largest luncheon club in America? You’re damn right it is,” Meyer said. “Just not next week. If you’re here next week, I’m kicking your (behind).”
