#Lesson: RP a God (and don't be a dick)

Everyone wants to be a god. There's no shame in it. This is RP. The problem with gods, though, is they are, literally, the living incarnation of a "godmod". The following are suggestions to make you god-like, without being so terribly OP that no one will RP with you.

-Selecting a God-
For the love of gods, don't select a god that is "the God of Everything". Those are boring to RP with as they are nearly impossible to build tension with. You know everything and can do anything, therefore there is no chance you will fail.

Instead, go with a god of something specific: time, war, nature, the hearth. Select something small, but interesting. This will limit your god, which in turn will make him more fun to RP with and more fun to RP.

-Decide what he can and cannot do-
Gods can have power over everything and anything, but that's no fun! Instead, give your god abilities directly related to what he is the god of. Make it logical. A god of War can't turn back time, but the god of Time could.

-Immortality-
Personally, I don't like playing immortals; but that doesn't mean it can't be done! It's also part and partial of the whole god gig.

That being said, I would encourage you to stretch your definition of immortality. What I like to do is make the actual gods incarnations of the forces present in our lives that take mortal hosts: for example, the god of water alone is just an energy that can control water, but the host is mortal. In this way, we can have interaction, immortality, and the existence of gods without the world being too OP.

You can also go the incarnation route: they can die, but they will always be reborn with the knowledge of their previous incarnations.

-And finally: give them a personality!-
It can be related to their element, but give them a personality! They need it. It's hard enough playing with a character who has extreme power and have them be dull as a rock too.
