-Lesson One: Worldbuilding-

World building is one of my favorite subjects. Thus, I will start with it.

The first and most important question: What kind of world is it? Is it infested with monsters? What are your cultures beliefs? Are their any kind of cultural tensions?

After that, it becomes a matter of reactions. If there are monsters, there are people who protect them from monsters. If there is crime, there are police.

What about the economy? I know that it's a boring topic, but really: the economy drives everything. What is the economy based on? Gold is a good standard if you have no idea outside of it, but it should be something you have to earn.

I'll use Devil May Cry universe as an example.

What do we know? We know the city is infested with demons. That is a constant in the DMC universe, so we'll assume there is some kind of protection in place. A well-armed police force, capable of protecting you from lesser demons and even the stronger demons, but certainly not the really big ones.

The DMC universe also establishes the following: While most demons are evil, the best demon hunters are also demons (or partly so). There is no real animosity that I can see, so we'll not figure that into the world: only caution.

I based the world economy around Red Orbs, which are canon. You have to work hard to get any amount of orbs as a hunter. This encourages there to be others to support them: medical, food, items, etc. This in turn encourages trade.

With a good infrastructure, you know exactly what you can, and cannot, do with your world. Take your time, do it right.
