An open letter to @BostonChildrens, @Mass_DCF and #JudgeJosephJohnston:

where the signs of somatoform disorders are combined
with laboratory abnormalities and a positive family
history, mitochondrial workup is warranted to avoid
misdiagnosis."

Just a few extra hours of investigation, waiting for previous medical records, coupled with communication and partnering with Justina Pelletier's specialists at Tufts University as well as shared decision making with her parents, respecting their role and rights to guide the medical care of their child as they involve reputable medical experts, would have allowed this entire tragedy to be avoided. #FreeJustina
