FG DONATES SURVEILLANCE EQUIPMENT TO NSCDC

In tackling the issue of vandalism of Critical Infrastructure and National Assets of government, the Federal government has reinstated its commitment in fighting the act to a standstill by empowering the Corps with surveillance equipment and vehicles through the National Security Adviser Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd.) for effective policing.

This is in line with the decision of Mr. President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan to equip the Corps during the Stakeholders Forum on the Protection of Critical Infrastructure and National Assets organized by the Office of the National Security Adviser last year in order to discharge this function without hitches.

As the lead agency shadowed with the responsibility of Protecting the Critical Infrastructure of Government such as PHCN Cables, Telecommunication Installations, Oil Pipe lines and Gas, Railway, Transport Sector and other Assets, the Federal Government has charged the Corps to ensure that, the issue of vandalism and oil theft should be perceived as a thing of the past.

The well equipped surveillance vehicles and other equipment were delivered to the Corps through the Honourable Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro for distribution and positioning at different locations.

The Commandant General, Dr. Ade Abolurin on behalf of the Corps appreciates the kind gesture of the Federal Government in supporting the Corps to confront the menace of vandalism which has bedeviled the society thereby affecting rapid development in the Nation.

He reiterates the commitment of the Corps personnel in serving their father land in the midst of daunting challenges without compromise.

He also stressed that with the recent development where Critical Infrastructure such as Telecommunication Installations have been attacked by insurgent group, the surveillance equipment will assist their effective monitoring of such installations by the personnel deployed to such critical areas.

Abolurin charges personnel to see the equipment donated as a step of receiving more in no distance time, if they can convince the government and the citizens that they are capable of tackling the hydra-headed challenges emanating from the act of sabotage by few individuals who engaged themselves in the act of vandalism and unwarranted attack on the Critical National Assets and Infrastructure due to their selfish interest by causing untold hardship on the citizenry.

He therefore, warned all those involved in the illicit act of vandalism to desist or relocate from the nation as the law of the federation is no respecter of any one.
