A City Wildlife veterinarian has examined the snowy owl and it is stable for the moment but blood was found in the mouth and internal trauma is suspected. In addition, a fractured toe was identified as well as tattered feathers and dehydration. We have hydrated the owl and placed a bandage on the toe to immobilize it and have given antibiotics and pain medication. Once the owl is stable we plan to take radiographs to evaluate the broken toe and to assess other possible internal injuries. The overall prognosis of the owl is guarded. @DCSnowyOwl @NationalZoo
