I'd say this is my final word on the subject but come on, y'all know me. I love to debate/discuss/fight...but ideally it's my final word for a while cause I'm super busy:

The reason this whole debate is so infuriating- and engaging- is the folks I'm arguing with have their hearts in wonderful places: quality and fairness for all. My heart is right there with you. As I see it, the problem is that some folks have been so conditioned by the much needed and very correct and very welcomed push back against misoginy that they no longer allow themselves free thought about the issues at hand: instead they just knee jerk against anyone with an idea that colors out of the officially sanctioned lines without considering the cons AND pros of said idea; instead they simply go into robot mode spewing the talking points of the 'let's not let folks get away with harming women' brigade (of which I consider myself a proud member, although I am an even prouder member of the 'let's not let folks get away with harming ANYONE' brigade). So in THIS particular case, this fellow (guy I was arguing with on Youtube) can't see that I can- and do-agree with him 100% about things such as 'He shouldn't have done it to begin with' and the fact that this woman did NOTHING wrong and shoulders NONE of the blame for what happened to her. The difference between me and this dick on my Youtube channel is that my brain allows the following two ideas to live side by side in my head: IDEA #1: she did nothing wrong/he is fully to blame/no matter if she wore a sign saying 'insult me in the most vulgar way possible!' he still had ZERO right to do so and she had zero responsibility in being abused and IDEA #2: Hey, the world is a shitty place sometimes cause there are jerks out there so here are some things that- looking back or looking to the future- could help shut creeps down like this fellow. Offering these ideas up doesn't mean she did anything wrong (although as I've said, I do personally think while she did nothing wrong by a country mile, I do think she could have handled the situation in a way that would have shut the guy down super fast...that's NOT HER JOB and NOT HER RESPONSIBILITY to do so...but I do think she COULD have done that). Agree with me or not but I don't think that opinion- which I've clearly explained multiple times over the last few days- is so horrific and "woman hatin'" and 'Victim Blame"y that I deserve half of (or really any) of the shit I've gotten over this :).
