#QueenoftheDesert Movie Info: with filming beginning today I thought I would take a moment to remind people that this is the story of Gertrude Bell's life not TE Lawrence. Although he played a role in her life that aspect is not focused on as much. The story begins with sort of her coming into society party. She is supposed to meet a man except Gertrude isn't like other women. She loves adventure, she is educated, she is fascinated with the middle east and wants desperately to explore it all. She finally convinces her father to allow her to go to the British Embassy in Tehran which is where she meets and falls in love with Henry Cadogan (James Franco) who is her liaison. They want to marry but her father forbids it and tragedy strikes. The movie cuts to a a few years later, after she writes her book and begins exploring, learning the ways of the desert, listening and being with the people there. She meets Lawrence (Robert Pattinson) midway through. They have a few wonderful scenes together and then she is off again to the British Counsel in Damascus where she meets and falls in love with the married Charles Doughtie-Wylie (Damian Lewis). Gertrude leaves again for more explorations in the Desert writing to Wylie daily. She was very much in love with him. She has an amazing journey in and out of the desert and then it cuts to Cairo, a year later which is when she meets up with Lawrence again.

Gertrude's story is fascinating, filled with love and loss, she truly was a force to be reckoned with. Casting Nicole in the part was perfect as I believe she can pull off the necessary emotional range of this spectacular woman.

As far as filming goes and how soon we might see Rob I think it depends on whether Werner shoots in sequential order or not. I always the love the beginning of a shoot. Its so exciting to see things come into play, to see the brilliant words of a screenwriter (in this case Werner himself) come to life. We have waited a long time for this movie. It has been in the works forever it seems but so happy to know it is finally coming to fruition.
