With the recent departure of Mike Malinin (drummer) of the goo goo dolls brings me back to Richie Sambora's departure from Bon Jovi and the way both parties have public addressed it are completely different. the stories vary slightly but similarities just the same. Atleast Mike Malinin had the class, dignity and respect for the fans of the band to come forward and say (tweet) he was no longer w/the band though it was not his decision to leave the band had let him go but he stated there was no ill will and he wished them well in the future. what a class act the man is, never mind the fact that his wife just had twins less than a month ago.
What Richie Sambora did was classless and showed no respect at all to the band or the fans. Waiting 7 months to speak on why he departed from the band and the tour, letting nasty rumors run rampid about Jon Bon Jovi being behind his departure when it was just Mr.Sambora that just didn't feel like being apart of it anymore...
Now 8 months later Bon Jovi fans still have no idea if Mr.Sambora will ever return because no one has officially stated he is no longer a member of the band but the very loyal Mr.Bongiovi continues to state there is still seat for Mr.Sambora on the plane.
I really liked Mike Malinin but I will not hold anything against the band its a business I get that. The Richie Sambora situation still continues to leave a bad taste in my mouth, I am still disgusted with his belittling of the band and its fans and choosing his ego over his brothers. Someone ones said to me what kind of fan are you to throw away 30 years of the band for not supporting Richie, its Richie who threw that away not me, I just refuse to support anything he sings, writes, sells promotes and so on....
