#OnayumAttukuttiyum Onaiyum Atukutiyum - Very very few movies stay in your mind after a day and if the first feel after getting up next day is that of the movie , that's indeed a special one - Mysskin , you win BIG TIME !!!( See comments for further points - a bit emotional :) )


Yes - this is a story of a medical student helping a wolf ( a paid criminal) and entering into a jungle of never ending cat-mouse-dog games with the police, gangs and the wolf himself !!

While coming out of the movie , i just closed my eyes and recollected each and every moment of that film and what a feel !!! - directors like Murugadoss can sit at his feet and learn some better direction.


When a medical student carries a wounded person to a private hospital who refuse to admit him on grounds of ending up in legal hassles, you see the medical staff seeing ' Alex Pandian ' - i mean , what do i call this ??? Brilliance would be a lesser word . And a mad man exclaims to him ' nee doctor , nee doctor' ( meaning you are the only one who is the real doctor), the medical student has a epiphany of sorts .


Yes, you would find the signature of Mysskin - low lit, weird angles , heavy orchestral score, freeze frames, robotic movements - all these have a perspective , unlike Ram Gopal verma ( or lets say more than ..) . When he shoots the first scene with bystanders ignoring a wounded person, there is a light on the top , indicative of the fact that the almighty is seeing it ( a fact that is revealed throughout ) .

When another Paid criminal says his life to end , you see him in front of a temple - no big deal, but notice his position .. It forms natural 'thoppu karanam' that we do before a pillayar temple . Very beautiful !


And a word about stunt choreography - it is just no wonderful, but just so so brilliant . And again, there is a psychology involved here of how he doges the police, and how the villians use the same technique in killing one of his dear ones .


And is Mysskin a student of social psychology - what a curve of change in the protagonist's character, when he is exposed to abduction, retribution and later forgiveness. The effect of situation is so much ignored not just in our personal lives but in movies too . Its not that a situation shapes a character , but the unknown part of the character is exhibited in that situation. Mysskin has understood that perfectly !!!!

BEST PART : There is a 5 minute sequence in a cementry where the wolf ( mysskin) narrates the story to a kid . And the story is .. the prequel to the film told as a parable with the amazing score by raaja . NO living director would have this courage in a movie that's produced by him . Not Shankar, not Manirathnam, never Murugadoss not even the pristine directors like Karthik subburaj etc !



The ONLY movie in the past 4 years that i wanted to see again and i will at any cost .


The biggest disservice that Illayaraja would do to his fans is not releasing the 90 minute score of this movie . I don't mind joining a group of fans and prostrating to him to release the score . Without him, it is impossible that Mysskin could have communicated the perspective to all users . You can notice how for the same character he uses alternate score when they change their mental positions , juxtaposed with the earlir dispoisiton . if this doesn'[t win the best background score, we can very well close the National awards commitee
