Full statement from DA's Office on handling of potential Filner investigation:
The District Attorney’s Office has received inquiries regarding the handling of any potential criminal investigation into recent allegations against San Diego Mayor Bob Filner.
San Diego law enforcement leaders have worked collaboratively to determine a framework of agencies that would be most appropriate to lead any potential investigation and prosecution.
Any potential criminal investigation would be handled by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department. The results of their investigation would then be turned over to the California Attorney General’s Office for review and possible prosecution.
No further information will be provided by the District Attorney’s Office at this time.
