Yesterday, after publishing a developer Q&A, many of you were worried about the FOV being locked at 65. As promised the team has been consulted and have given an explanation. Below is their response and we are sure this will put your worries to rest.

"First off, the FOV of 65 degrees is referring to the vertical field of view. I.e. if you have a wide-screen monitor, the horizontal FOV will be substantially higher. Secondly, we have carefully selected this field of view to make sure that objects from both first-person and third-person (when you are standing behind another player in-game) look the same.

For example, in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. on a high FOV setting we had visual-anomalies, for example, in first-person view a manhole cover would look normal but when viewing another player standing on that very same manhole it would look huge. The same issue occurred with windowsills, doors and other players when the protagonist looks at their stomach (due to that the camera had to be lowered to a level below the eyes to reduce those visual-anomalies).

In Survarium all the objects are of their real size and must be viewed as such. Therefore the FOV chosen is for the good of the game."
