My Response to Jay Bakker (@jaybakker) as we're #LearningInTheJourney... {followed by our previous tweets}
.@jaybakker Thank you for sharing that piece. Let me preface with saying by no means am I voicing a holier than thou mantra. My brother I am a jacked-up mess, in need of a Savior, and I'm thankful for His Mercy, Grace and Love.
There's so many points to address in such little space. My original assertion was based on you calling out another's need for education on context and biblical history.
I'm no theologian, but you have publicly twisted, denied and questioned the validity of God's Word on many occasions, all while bantering about as a self-labeled “evangelical punk preacher” and a member of "Outlaw Preachers".
Simply, we either stand with the Word of God as Truth or not. We don't need made up theories, rewritten ideas, or one's own interpretation to suit one's fancy, their own agenda or this culture's latest obsession.
Who are we to try to transcend God? We need a voice of truth in a culture of lies, in a generation flooded with depravity, starved of the truth.
To the point of tragedies (not agreeing with @JohnPiper's approach), we are in the prime of depravity throughout the world, as we have clearly fallen astray, but tragedies occur and have occurred since the fall of man, and no one is immune to such.
We live in an imperfect world where tragic losses occur, diseases devour and evil exists. However, we as Christians can stand firm in His Truth and still love with open arms.
Our reflection of His love doesn't mean we have to agree or succumb to another's way of life. We're simply being obedient to the Truth, His Truth that lives within, [so let's love without encouraging sin]. Truth In Love, from a perfectly imperfect sinner who is #LearningInTheJourney.
