I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Michael Ryan, better known to some of us in the wrestling community as Llakor.
We in the Montreal wrestling community came to know Llakor in 2002, initially as a fan, who loved what we did so much, that he invested hours and hours of his time and energy into writing articles, press releases, and anything he could to let the world know about these crazy kids out of Montreal who were trying to make some noise. He did this not because he had to or because anyone had asked him too, but because he genuinely believed in us.
Over time he became more and more involved in an official capacity with various companies where I cut my teeth, including IWS and more recently BATTLE WAR, my 2 Montreal home promotions.

Some of you may not know who this man is, but you should know that without him, El Generico would probably never have existed. He helped my career a lot, particularly in the early stages, and truthfully I don’t know if I would be right here, right now without his tireless effort, his initiative, and his unrivaled passion for professional wrestling.
In my 11 year career, many things have been said about me and many things have been written about me that have touched me in a very profound way. Perhaps the thing that touched me the most over the years was an article he wrote about the night El Generico was born called “I am El Generico’s Father”. He initially wrote it years ago, when I first started making a name for myself in the US and Europe, but when news of my departure from the independents broke, he reposted it, and it made me cry like a baby.
