@BlackFlameF50 @Bizarnage My pitch of the Venom movie plot: In ASM 2 something will go down at Ravencroft, causing a breakout large enough to set Cletus free. Eddie and Ann are married at this point. Eddie works for the Bugle as a journalist/blogger, following Spider-Man's adventures and writing stuff that basically amounts to fan-gasms. Yeah, Eddie's a huge fan of Spidey, just hang on. He's also investigating Spidey and his foes' connection to Oscorp resulting from events in ASM 2, so he's got that angle going, too. Cletus decides to use his newfound freedom to go on a killing spree, starting with the attorney who committed him to Ravencroft: Ann. He hopes he can get Spidey's attention with the body count for a one-on-one as a thank-you for getting him arrested in the first place. Cletus kills Ann and Eddie blames Spidey for not going above and beyond to make sure people like Cletus never gets a chance to kill again. He begins to write scathing reviews about Spidey, even going so far as to fabricate false stories that end up getting him fired. He's then approached by the mystery man in the hat, who offers Eddie the chance to get his revenge on Spidey by essentially replacing him. The catch: Eddie would have to do the mystery man a favor later on (join the Sinister Six). Eddie accepts the offer and the mystery man bonds him to the suit (which, I'm guessing, will have its origins tied to the USM comics). Eddie vows to be the venom Spider-Man lacks (eh?). Before he takes his fight to Spidey, though, Eddie wants his revenge on his wife's murderer. He hunts Cletus down and is about to end him when he realizes the monster the suit is turning him into. He runs off without killing Cletus, but leaves a bit of the suit behind. It bonds to Cletus and they become Carnage. Eddie sorts his shit out and fights Carnage. He kills Carnage (or so it will seem if Sony wants this to have a sequel), and the film ends with him joining the Sinister Six. Twist: in the Sinister Six film, Eddie will still retain a shred of dignity and ends up betraying his team and temporarily allying with Spidey. In the end, Venom and Spidey make the deal (you know which) and he moves to San Francisco. BOOM, BITCHES! Sony, you have my number.
