Starved to death in a Hospital

WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is investigating a complaint from a woman who says her elderly mother was improperly deprived of food and water for 14 days in hospital. Rozalynde McKibbin said Thursday her mother was malnourished for two weeks and left without a bath for 36 days before she died at Seven Oaks Hospital two years ago. “Representatives of Seven Oaks and the Region are hoping to meet with Ms. McKibbin when the review is finished to discuss her concerns,” WRHA spokeswoman Heidi Graham said. Anne Rostecki, 98, died Aug. 31, 2009, 45 days after she was admitted for treatment of a stroke.Three days after the elderly woman was admitted she accidentally swallowed some food and it lodged in her lungs. “They had to pump out her lungs and that’s when the problems . . . began,” McKibbin said, saying medical staff concluded her mother’s ability to swallow was impaired and she could not eat solid food any longer. The adult children said they believed hospital staff would then insert a feeding tube but, on their daily visits, they noticed their mother was steadily losing weight.A flurry of complaints followed, including at least one meeting with the patient care team manager, and a feeding tube was inserted. There were other problems. The family claims the elderly woman was not bathed until 36 days after she was admitted. They claim a bed sore on her tailbone was allowed to putrefy until it was gangrenous. After her death, the family pressed their complaints and obtained Rostecki’s medical records.McKibbin said she was shocked when the records appeared to document the malnourishment and lack of hygienic care in her mother’s medical chart. The authority, meanwhile, offered two independent investigations by senior doctors, both of which McKibbin said she were rejected outright.”That’s not an independent investigation, using your own doctors,” McKibbin said Thursday.”I want them to admit our mother was starved; that she wasn’t kept clean; that she had a wound on her tailbone that was getting worse. . . . The care they give is not quality care and I want them to change things,” McKibbin said http://www.vancouversun.com/news/national/Family+complains+Winnipeg+hospital+mother+starve+death/5585875/story.html

I have even seen and witnessed the same thing in two Montreal Hospitals, West Island Hospital, Montreal and Montreal St Luc Hospital, and I detailed it, even on the net and yet no one investigated my complaints..

and now how many more are there like him?

It is unbelievable that after I had written about it for many years later 15 years even I can go to most local Hospitals or Convalescent homes and there too easily see the typical and mostly poorly supervised doctors, nurse, medical care workers. http://postedat.wordpress.com/2010/03/16/maisson-herron/

There are two clearly main, very unacceptable basic Problems with Canada’s health care systems that need to be first dealt with, and it is also now the same basic problems with our too often costly, inadequate civil and public servants, cops, politicians:
-Unlike in the Private sector, in the Hospital, in the medical services, the gods, the doctors and nurses do wrongfully think they are above the law, above being touched, can do anything or nothing and get away with it, Does it also remind you of the bad MP’s, bad MLA’s, bad Aldermen, cops and the bad RCMP as well? No continual, really functional recall tends to exist!

- The clear lack of adequate supervisors, supervision of the all of subordinates, and thus when a person cheats, lies, steals, performs badly unlike in the private system, they wrongfully are generally not punished, not fired, nor also their bad supervisors for that matter now as well
Adjudicator accused of sex bribery seen on video meeting with refugee claimant The Canadian Press – TORONTO — An immigration judge Steve Ellis, 50,on trial for allegedly offering to approve a refugee claimant’s application in exchange for sex told the woman it’s all right if they “do things together on the side,” court heard Tuesday. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/100223/national/immigration_judge_trial

Many persons who are fed up with the APPARENT INADEQUACIES even in the socialized medicine would like us to believe that a private medical system is better… and that is mere wishful thinking.. for even in a private system there are too often the same inadequacies, even for the same reasons, the apparent lack of supervision of medical personnel and services, http://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2010/08/14/the-great-debate-private-or-socialized-medicare/

You all know I have spent over a month recently in a hospital observing what is going on. Once again I saw that the patients who come in alone they tend to be neglected… not taken to washrooms, not given adequate medical care even in the emergency department now too.

I had tried to talk to a doctor at the McGill LGH about my father’s medical treatment, but he was always to busy to do so, but I next saw him spending a lot of time with a sexy young chick in the Hospital hallway and too often with other very pretty girls now too.. All done while many patients were suffering, some even needlessly dying..

The neglect of a known medical conditions by the doctors, nurses, Hospital administrators is a criminal act, prosecutable by jail terms now as well. Yes Doctors cannot make any patients live for ever but they must and generally can now try to relive the pain, sufferings of the patients, and not merely by murdering them, Let us all be clear about it a pretentious McGill medical support of their patients, while It helps to financially support the medical workers, hospital administrators it basically does not help the patients, only escalates the taxpayers costs of the medical care system Public exposure and full exemplary prosecution of the guilty here too will serve everyone’s best interest and as an exemplary warning to all the wrong doers here as well.

Windsor nurses allege doctor made sexual comments Windsor police are investigating allegations that an off-duty emergency room doctor at Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital was intoxicated and made sexual advances to two nurses.

Public exposure and full exemplary prosecution of the guilty here too will serve everyone’s best interest and as an exemplary warning to all the wrong doers here as well. including ALL THOSE BAD NURSES, BAD SOCIAL WORKERS, BAD DOCTORS WHO INSTEAD OF DOING THEIR DUTIES TRY NEXT TO PLAY DIRTY POLITICS WITH ME NOW AS WELL.

Last Monday FEB 22, I had now met in the emergency ward of the MONTREAL WEST ISLAND Pointe Claire Lakeshore General Hospital a patient who was next to my father, As you know my father was admitted here also due to cardiac failure, water on the lung on Monday now, M Bergeron ( NOT HER REAL NAME ) M Bergeron now she had fallen on the street on the ice had broken her arm, and had also hurt her hip. The hospital had put a cast on her arm, and next the emergency room, triage nurses had wrongfully tried repeatedly to force the patient to walk so that she could be discharged. The patient was crying in agony in pain while the cruel, despotic, unsympathetic nurses at the LGH were forcing her to walk in my witness as well. And days later the same patient was still in the same bed and had not received any appropriate treatment for her leg, she now was transferred to the overflow ward where she was next forgotten by her original doctor, even though finally it was confirmed that she did have a fractured hip. I am confident that had she been a young person she would have got the treatment within 24 hours. On Friday Feb 26, now five days later, the nurse on her morning rounds discovers M Bergeron had now a high temperature, was vomiting, and had diarrhea, and M Bergeron was send to the isolation room in the same section. The Nurse next phoned a new doctor from the ER to come and see her which he did about 10.30 AM, THAT SHE TOO NOW HAD THE nova VIRUS, FOOD POISONING VIRUS, THAT WAS RAMPANT ON THE FOURTH FLOOR, the LGH orthopedic ward, so also it was very likely the visiting doctor from the orthopedic floor who had visited her in the first emergency center that passed it on to her, cause she was not seen by any doctors in the overflow section prior to today, and I have been there for the whole week now too with my father. The new emergency doctor phoned the original doctor in my presence and complained to him he had neglected his patient. M Bergeron and arranges medical tests CT scan for her, which were done about 3.00 pm today. About 7.00 pm next during evening shift M Bergeron had shit in her diaper and she as I had heard had called both senior nurses on duty to change her diaper, and they had refused to do so, it was supposedly below their dignity to do so, AND THE MALE ORDERLY HAD GONE FOR HIS BREAK, AND SO M Bergeron SHE LAY THERE IN HER SHIT, AND M Bergeron HAD NEXT ASKED ME TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. SHE ALSO COMPLAINED TO ME SHE WAS FREEZING IN HER ISOLATION ROOM, AND I TALKED TO THE NURSES ON DUTY BUT THE NURSES ON DUTY THIS EVENING NOW STILL REFUSED TO CHANGE HER DIAPER AND COULD NOT HELP HER WITH THE HEAT PROBLEM.

NOW WHAT KIND OF ACCEPTABLE MEDICAL SERVICES IS THIS NOW? NOW I WANT THE ORIGINAL DOCTOR CRIMINAL PROSECUTED FOR FAILING TO MEET HER MEDICAL NEEDS, AND THE TWO ATTENDING EVENING NURSES NOW AS WELL for failing to changer her soiled diaper..

and there was further revelation directly to me of other wrong doings, cover-ups by the Hospital director herself by an emergency doctor that I will have addressed too.

NOW THE LAST TWO DAYS I HAD ALSO SPECIFICALLY, GENERALLY OBSERVED THAT OF THE TWO SENIOR NURSES ON DUTY IN FATHER AND MY OWN PRESENCE THAT ONE WAS LAZY, SLACKER AND THE OTHER ONE A HARD WORKER.

And here is what I saw FIRSTHAND the slackers NURSES unacceptable do at their main desk in front of me, socialize for long period of times or flirt with doctors and others, or read fashion magazines, read the funny news section on Yahoo.ca on the computer, Study from a medical Textbook for an evening course they were taking elsewhere.. while the patients such as M Bertrand were in painful agony all confirming what I had said before the medical workers, doctors, nurses were very poorly supervised. None of this is acceptable, The associated neglect of patients. The Nurses on duty at LGH do tell them ALL to get on with their real Medicare rather.. changes diapers and linen too. My father had not had his bed line changed, nor his hospital gown this week, I had to do it for him today, and he did not get a wash, or a shower at all this week.. where as in the convalescent home he had got it everyday.

Please see that she also gets the proper treatment as soon as possible. In reality 2 other patients who were in my father LGH 4401 rooms have complained recently they they had not received adequate medical services, Even people working in the hospital often say that the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing, there is no apparent rhyme or reasons for many of the acts, decisions taken by the medical staff. What sick patients hate that occurs often in the triage at LGH is that the patient are moved around often from one location to another and they are rarely told what is happened, going to happen next as well, they are left in the dark too often rather to worry, despair, become anxious.. for the only place you can see some semblance of order it seems is in the Hospital’s coffee shop or cafeteria. And why is that? Amazing how many times I see doctors in the coffee shop and cafeteria while the patients are left in the dark, left to suffer pain..

I for sure do aim to fire, remove all bad people I write about.. I will not allow anyone to be abused now if I can help it. especially any sick or elderly persons as you know..

THE NURSES, DOCTORS AT THE POINTE CLAIRE LAKESHORE GENERAL HOSPITAL ARE VERY POORLY SUPERVISED, rather generally UNSUPERVISED undeniably, and that is why they so often now do waste their time on the job, do gossip, talk to each other for long periods of time instead of looking after the too many sick patients. THEIR OVERALL EFFICIENCIES CAN BE IMMEDIATELY IMPROVED BY 30 PERCENT. A 30 PERCENT BUDGET CUT WILL NEXT HELP TO ACHIEVE THIS FOR SURE.

And guess what ten weeks after being asked to do so later the LGH, Doctors now has found a pain killer that works for my father and why did it take them next ten weeks as well to do so?

Now also at the McGill Montreal West Lakeshore General Hospital, they really do now need to convert the spacious, ludicrous 5 floor executive offices to an Intensive care unit and thus make really make a much better, and practical use of the space, really helping the sick patients instead of the executives merely helping themselves. The executives can be moved to the unused basement storage space in the same hospital

Now the citizens of Montreal west island who themselves would be upset if they knew the overall truth about the LGH hospital and Quebec government pretentious medical services. According to a Hospital director the top Hospital director she herself now knows that this is not a full services hospital, but she allows this lie to be conveyed that it is to the public. Even more specifically that 22 years ago the pediatric section of this hospital was closed. NOW THE HOSPITAL IS NOT EQUIPPED TO HANDLE CHILDREN IN THE EMERGENCY ROOM, IT DOES NOT HAVE QUALIFIED CHILDREN NURSES, ACCOMMODATIONS, CHILDREN BEDS, DOES NOT ALSO HAVE ESSENTIAL NEEDED CHILDREN MEDICAL EQUIPMENT

And so how are they going to now also handle this, all lie some more, or try falsely to lie about me, slander me? or what?

The Crown is compelled to seek a jail term in a case involving a man Peter Fonteece who stood by while his wife took her own life, a prosecutor said Tuesday But meanwhile Doctors and hospital staff who starved patients to death, or neglect to to provide proper medical care to patients are allowed to get away with it? Crown lawyer David MacKenzie said his failure to call for help after his wife Yanisa popped upwards of 40 sleeping pills in a Thunder Bay, Ont., motel room warrants a jail term. “His spouse died, and while he could have done something to have prevented this, he didn’t,” MacKenzie said on the eve of Fonteece’s sentencing hearing. and again what about the medical doctors, nurse in hospitals that could have prevented deaths by aiding the sick and dying?

Quebec Doctors want a legal pardon for their murders of citizens, patients

Firstly all of the governments need to al lot a lot more money for Medicare, heart and leg surgery and for decades now too as well .. and likely this money will be partially abused again as well.. some thing I still do see too often now too.. doctors and nurses even not properly supervised.. see http://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2010/06/14/professionals-what-a-joke/ and http://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2010/08/03/the-adequate-treatment-for-canadas-failing-health-system/

One of the too many false reasons too many patients die in Hospitals is that almost none of the medical staff feel any personal, real, negative repercussions themselves. One of the best way that I have discovered to get to know what a person is really like, is work with him just for one whole day,.. and what you now saw next.. lying, bullying, control freak..
The reality also is that a God/faith based forgiveness approach still works only if one admits that one lies, one has to first admit he has sinned before he or she can receive help, forgiveness for it.. like it or not. http://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2010/03/09/leg-and-heart-surgery/

Wed Apr 21, 7:42 PM By The Canadian Press OTTAWA – The House of Commons has overwhelmingly voted down a bid to legalize euthanasia and assisted suicide.
MPs of all party stripes voted 228-59 against a private member’s bill, sponsored by Bloc Quebecois MP Francine Lalonde. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/100421/national/parl_euthanasia

In Montreal I have been to the English and French Hospitals and I can certainly say that the McGill run Hospitals provide some of the worst nursing, Doctor services as well.. the RVH, JGH, Lachine Hospital, and Lakeshore General hospital included.. One rotten apple spoils the whole basket.. deal with it.. In contrast in a Quebec French hospitals where the doctors are also from the University of Montreal, the doctors are persistent and will continue to assist to determine my problem.. unlike McGill. In the old days they had at least now made a pretence to aid you when you made a complaint. Now these days they seem in no hurry to get back to you, or they misfile the complaint, buck pass it, or just deny it altogether at the McGill Hospitals mostly it seems.. The Unacceptable Useless RVH Dr Morin too. It seems that McGill University Doctors take on a attitude that it is condescending for them to serve us any of us, we all should be subservient and really should be grateful that they have agreed to help us.

The Governor General Michaelle Jean delivers speech criticizing rampant materialism has delivered a speech critical of unrestrained market forces in a speech at McGill University. Jean told an audience in Montreal that life shouldn’t simply be about making money, but about helping people. The Governor General says market forces are extremely influential, and can risk drowning out such values as the common good. ” “We are living in a world in which spaces for critical debate, reflection and civic action are increasingly being assailed by the alluring sirens of fleeting gratification and cultural conformity,” she said. “More and more, impersonal market forces are influencing public life, while notions of the common good and altruistic action are being challenged by an ethic of ‘everyone for himself or for his clan.’ by “ saying no to a world in which our obsession with profit makes us turn a blind eye to suffering” and where “prosperity is detrimental to our environment,” Jean said.

NEW CANADIANS, IMMIGRANTS BECOME REALLY DEPRESSED, EVEN AGITATED WHEN THEY ARE TOLD THAT ELDERLY PATIENTS ARE BEING ALLOWED TO STARVE TO DEATH IN CANADIAN HOSPITALS. I GUESS THEY THINK THEY WILL ALSO GET SECOND RATE MEDICAL TREATMENTS WHEN THEY GO TO THE HOSPITAL NEXT AS WELL?

Let me bluntly honest say, now there are both good and bad doctors, and they both need to be supervised.. my ex wife a nurse continually taught me that DOCTORS MAKE MISTAKES AS WELL AND THEY ALSO CANNOT BE TRUSTED ON THEIR OWN. Why is it I always tend to get better medical services always after I first make some serious public complaints about it? What do they not do their best immediately again?

WINDSOR, Ont. – A Windsor, Ont., hospital apologized Wednesday to a patient who received a mastectomy last fall after the surgeon misread the diagnosis. Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospital says the patient received a mastectomy which was scheduled on the basis of an original diagnosis of breast cancer. The diagnosis, however, was contradicted by a pre-surgery pathology report indicating that the lump was benign. The hospital says the surgeon, Dr. Barbara Heartwell, misread the report and unfortunately proceeded with the surgery. The hospital says it is taking all steps necessary to assist the patient, including offering counselling and any other assistance that is required. The hospital says it has convened a full investigation. “We are deeply saddened to hear of this serious error and will assist the patient in any way that we can,” said hospital board chair Egidio Sovran. “We are profoundly sorry that this has occurred.” Hospital CEO Warren Chant said humans are not infallible and mistakes do unfortunately occur. “We appreciate how difficult this is for the patient and her family,” Chant said. “We will thoroughly investigate this matter and will continue to reach out to assist this patient.” When Heartwell, who is on vacation, returns to the hospital, she will be monitored and her pathology reports will be reviewed by another physician pending the completion of the investigation, the hospital said in a release. In addition, a review of Heartwell’s past patient mastectomy records is being done to ensure that there are no other patient care issues. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/100217/national/mistaken_mastectomy

Officials say they’re fixing problem with contaminated surgical tools The Canadian Press - KAMLOOPS, BC – The Interior Health Authority says it’s working to make sure surgical tools are properly sterilized at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, BC, but not everyone is satisfied with the agency’s response to the problem of dirty instruments.

We all can readily know that know that too many of our politicians too often do lie and spin the truths and now so do the Doctors and their representatives with their hidden agendas as well. Doctors now say they want to help others.. but do dream on for still they always are firstly helping themselves in reality!!!!

Immoral, incompetent, no good Quebec medical doctors wrongfully now want a legal right to bury their sins, errors, murders and face no lawsuits, negative consequences! The Public, citizens are being duped about the real issues involved here.

Helene Bolduc calls it “the good death.” The president of the Quebec association for the right to die with dignity says she saw suffering as a nurse, and, at 72 years old, it’s an option she wants toward the end of her life. “I feel myself, it’s just a matter of being human,” she says. “It’s a gesture of love for our loved ones.” Bolduc will speak tomorrow in front of a National Assembly committee that will, in the end, hear testimonies from 30 groups. And though politicians say they’re looking to find a consensus on the topic, some opinions are bound to clash. “We don’t get into that discussion,” says Yves Lamontagne, the head of Quebec’s college of physicians. He’s come to the hearings, not to talk about euthanasia or assisted suicide, but about the simple act of giving painkillers to dying patients. The medication meant to reduce their suffering can sometimes lead to their deaths. “physicians are sometimes are quite afraid of giving good care just in case they could be accused of a criminal act.” http://www.cjad.com/news/565/1070452
Suicide bill bill would give doctors a licence to kill The Gazette February 15, 2010 It was while I was reading Bill C-384 that I realized that only a few more steps would be necessary for me to be killed legally by a doctor if that federal private member’s bill becomes law. Let’s see. I have a “terminal illness”: check. I “appear to be lucid”: check. I have a doctor willing to sign a form on which I have stated my desire to have my life ended prematurely, not necessarily my own doctor: check. I have a doctor willing to do it, usually by lethal injection, as long as the legal paperwork is in order: check. Those are the “safeguards” that advocates of legalizing euthanasia and assisted suicide in Canada say should comfort those of us who fret about the consequences of making this dangerous change in the law. Euthanasia is the deliberate killing of another human being with the intention of sparing further suffering. Assisted suicide is deliberately helping another person to commit suicide, perhaps by supplying the lethal dose. Both amount to murder in Canadian criminal law. Bill C-384 would create exceptions from criminal liability for doctors who follow the rules it would specify. It’s often overlooked that to give a patient the right to die, the doctor must be given the right to kill. Parliament is prorogued or shut down until March 3. A little-known aspect of parliamentary procedure is that while regular government bills die on prorogation, private members’ bills stay on the agenda in the same order of precedence. C-384 has already received its one hour of debate at first reading. This means the bill could go for a vote as early as March 17 or March 24. Meanwhile, the Quebec College of Physicians has said it supports legalization. The Quebec government says it is setting up a research committee to consider the issue. Notably, however, the Canadian Medical Association, the much larger national doctors’ organization, has refused to support legalization of euthanasia. These announcements helped stir up a flurry of public debate in Canada. Curiously, though, participants in this debate largely ignored the substantial evidence of what has actually happened over the decade or so that euthanasia and assisted suicide were effectively legalized in the Netherlands. Latest numbers indicate that about 3,000 patients were deliberately killed or helped to commit suicide last year. An earlier government report, for 2005, acknowledged that about 550 patients were deliberately killed without their consent. There is also some telling evidence from the U.S. state of Oregon. The state’s medical authority has acknowledged that when it turns down an application to cover the cost of an expensive new drug, it sends out simultaneously a reminder that the state’s assisted suicide program is available at an affordable cost. What a great way to put a crimp in medical costs: Have the patients kill themselves when the cost of keeping us alive gets too high. Doctors do kill patients from time to time, but usually unintentionally. Tradition has it that the first principle to be followed by a doctor is to do no harm. Hope and trust should be the emotions with which we patients greet our physicians. How long can such traditions and principles survive if doctors become licensed to kill? http://www.montrealgazette.com/news/Suicide+bill+would+give+doctors+licence+kill/2565610/story.html#ixzz0fezM3pAW

Quebec specialist physicians ask Ottawa to allow thier killing of others QUEBEC — Quebec doctors say it’s time for the federal and provincial governments to decriminalize euthanasia. Gaetan Barrette, head of the province’s association of medical specialists, wants Quebec and Ottawa to come up with clear policies on when doctors can facilitate a patient’s death. Barrette says the public is ready to accept such guidelines. He says that, like it or not, euthanasia is already widely practised and governments should stop ignoring it. Barrette was testifying before a legislative committee in Quebec City that is looking into the right to die with dignity. He suggested the provincial government could move to protect doctors who practise euthanasia from prosecution, as it did in the past with doctors carrying out abortions. http://www.google.com/hostednews/canadianpress/article/ALeqM5jeXJ_r3X9iYqAsehln9aE9PQfg9Q

Hospital deaths account for half of deaths annually! Now I have been spending a lot of time in hospitals lately and I have seen 5 elderly persons die in the last month, 5 more than I have seen in my whole life time.. and some of these persons too sadly were falsely being allowed to starve to death in Canadian Hospitals too. Drugs kill so do doctors and nurses , they even starve patients to death.

A CONVALESCENT HOME EMPLOYEE HAS NOW DIRECTLY TOLD ME THAT IF A PATIENT NO LONGER WANTS TO EAT OR LIVE, SHE IS TO ALLOW HIM TO STARVE TO DEATH, SHE IS NOT ALLOWED TO TRY TO FEED HIM.. FOR THIS IS A DIRECT QUEBEC GOVERNMENT POLICY, IF SHE TRIES TO FEED THE PATIENT SHE WILL BE FIRED FROM HER JOB. IS THIS NOW TRUE?
