[1보]세계 58개국 지식인 "박근혜 반대 성명" 파문

교협, 58개국 552명 지식인 연대 서명 성명 발표 …박근혜 후보 집권 초국경적 파급력 클 것 우려


세계 58개국 552명의 지식인들이 박근혜 새누리당 후보가 집권하면 유신독재의 회귀와 같다며 박 후보를 반대한다는 성명을 발표했다.
세계 지식인들과 연대활동을 벌였던 민주화를 위한 전국교수협의회(민교협)은 지난 10월 초 유신 독재를 기억하는 아시아 지식인 성명을 준비하자고 제안한 방글라데시의 지식인들의 뜻을 전달받고 세계 각 지역 지식인들에게 이메일을 보내 서명과 메시지를 전달받아 지식인 성명 발표를 추진해왔다.
이들은 성명을 통해 "독재자 가문가 명문 가문의 2세들이 쉽게 유력한 정치지도자가 되는 많은 나라와 달리 한국에서 독재자의 2세가 국가권력에 도전하는 것은 이는 매우 예외적인 상황"이라며 "박정희 통치와 유신독재를 생생하게 기억하고 있는 아시아의 지식인들은 한국에서 일어나는 이러한 현상이 민주주의의 미래에 매우 암울한 전조라고 생각하며 우려하고 있다"고 밝혔다.
또한 박정희 전 대통령의 독재 시기는 "매우 불안한 정치적 위기의 연속이었고, 그 과정에서 국민들에게 일본제국주의 시대를 연상시키는 전체주의적 통제와 희생을 강요했다"고 비판했다.
특히 박근혜 후보에 대해서는 '구 독재자의 2세'라고 표현하며 "유력한 대통령 후보로 당선 가능선에 있다는 것은 다시 보수적인 정부가 들어선다는 의미를 뛰어넘는다"고 지적했다.
이들은 박근혜 후보가 당선될 경우 "아시아 여러 나라의 경제위기와 정치불안과 결합하여 과거로 회귀하는 초국경적 파급력을 만들어낼 우려도 있다"고 전했다.
이들은 "유신독재를 기억하는 우리에게 이는 매우 충격적인 일이다. 한국의 시민들 다수가 독재의 추억을 회귀시키는 흐름을 저지하는 것은 한국에만 큰 의미를 가지는 것이 아니라 국경을 넘어 큰 영향을 가질 것"이라며 박 후보에 대한 반대의 뜻을 분명히 했다.

민교협은 세계인 지식인 연대 성명과 별도로 보내온 메시지도 전달했다.
마틴 하트랜즈버그 교수(동아시아-한국학, 루이스클라크 교수, 미국)는 "만일 보수세력이 한국사를 잘못되게 다시 쓰는 일에 성공한다면, 그것은 사회의 요구에 진정하게 상응하는 사회를 만들려고 노력하는 모든 사람에게 비극일 것"이라고 경고했다.
신씨아 코번 교수(세계적 여성학/평화학자, 대표적인 반전여성운동, 런던씨티대학, 워릭대학 교수, 영국)도 "박근혜 후보는 단지 가족관계로 독재자 박정희와 연관된 것이 아니라 정치철학으로 연관되어 있고, 그래서 당선된다면 이미 오래전에 종식되었다고 간주했던 불의와 억압, 폭력의 시기로 한국이 다시 되돌아갈 위험이 있다"고 진단했다.
레자 라흐만 레닌(아시아시민사회학, 인권법-반테러법 전문가, 방글라데시)은 "과거 정치적 유산의 수혜자로 간주되고 있는 독재자의 딸 박근혜가 여러 부패 혐의에도 불구하고 주요 보수정당의 대통령 후보로서 선거에 나서는 것은 우려스럽다"고 전했다.
보니 멘데스 신부(파키스탄사회연구소 소장)는 "가까운 일가 친척이나 다른 강력한 권력 가문의 일가친척이 통치하거나 선거에 도전하는 것은 허용되어서는 안된다. 허용되지 않는 것이 아시아 다른 나라들에게도 갈 길을 보여주는 것이 될 것"이라고 말했다.
에크라지 사부르 국제평화연구소 소장은 "박정희 통치기의 잔혹한 기록을 기억할 때, 그의 딸 박근혜가 대통령선거에 나선다는 것은 역설이자 도전"이라며 "자유를 위해 목숨을 읽은 순교자들의 꿈과 정치적 전망을 살아있게 하는 방향으로 한국의 시민들이 이번 선거에서 통치와 민주주의 운명을 결정하는 것은 그들의 의무"라고 주장했다.
