Rob did not like Rupert Sanders. At all.

Not merely because Sanders had shown himself to be
a crude, manipulative, grandiose SOB hiding behind a facade of confident
charm...but because he knew the guy had a thing for his girl. It wasn't hard
for anyone around them to see that Sanders had the hots for Kristen, to the
point of becoming obsessed with her. She is young, incredibly beautiful, feisty
with a hint of vulnerability ... and at that time, the highest paid actress in
HW. The fact that she was already taken was a mere technicality in Sanders' mind.
He wanted her on his arm and in his bed. He knew Rob was in the way of getting
that and he set out to orchestrate the demise of Kristen's relationship with
him.
Think about this. What kind of marauding, pompous
ass would think to state to the press (in effect, to the world) at the world
premiere of his first big movie, that his star, Kristen, was in "Twilight
prison"? Why would he feel the need to degrade anyone on this auspicious
occasion? To insult years of her work, her fans, and the Saga franchise, but
more than that...Kristen herself? Because he meant it to be directed at her
relationship with Rob. No doubt envy and jealously led Sanders to feel that Rob
was part of Kristen's "prison" sentence in his quest to "free" her from it.
Sanders likened Kristen to a "wild horse", "untamed and quite spirited." He complimented her this way to gain her confidence, grooming her before going in for the kill. The
cocky SOB was so self-assured, so certain he had Kristen on a hook that in time
she would succumb to his charms. Naturally, Kristen was initially encouraged by
his compliments. The extra attention bestowed upon her by her experienced, much
older, mentor/director made her feel a sense of empowerment, and having
"arrived." (her words, remember?). Much to a certain man's chagrin.
And that man was a problem for Sanders.
A big problem.
The man Kristen was very much in love with...Rob.
Kristen may have enjoyed the ego trip, but she wasn't so enamored that she was
going give up the man she loved. Sanders was set on trying to destroy her
relationship. He continued with the flattery and flirtations even though
Kristen kept him at bay. He lured her with shop talk. He had a script. He
totally set her up to be seen and papped on that infamous day. He called her to
meet HIM. Once he got her where he wanted her, out in the open, he's leaning
in, grinning, laughing, an aggressor pressing in, trying to envelope her, while
she's trying to play it off, laughing, hands clenched, turning and pushing her
body AWAY from him, not against him. The awkward body language of unease and
discomfort. It translates as: "oh shit, he is GOING there. I'm in it now,
the FUCKING director, wtf do i do now?"

She stopped it, that's what she did. But we didn't
get to see that part.
What we did get to see was just enough that the
damage was done in the eyes of the public, as we all found out.

Rob is a truly gentle soul. He is very feeling when
it comes to matters of the heart. And he loves Kristen to the moon and back. He
has always trusted her. And she feels the same about him, of that you can be
sure. Still, as any guy would be, he was freaked out and pissed off and
embarrassed by the drama that unfolded. It is understandable that he needed
time to digest what was going on and to deal with it. And yes, he was angry at
Kristen, for letting it happen. But again, the thing many do not know.. he was
NOT cuckolded. Rob didn't like Sanders and had long suspected his motives, and
this was known to Kristen. He also knew Kristen was talking to Sanders. He
trusted her to handle it, because she told him she would handle "it"
(Sanders).
Of course, we saw what we saw and how it was
misconstrued. Despite it all, Rob NEVER stopped loving Kristen. If anything, he
was even more sure of his love for her. Likewise for Kristen. Emotions were
very high, but he NEVER broke up with her. And he didn't lose his trust in her.
They worked through a very difficult trial in their relationship. And, as it
has over the course of the past 4 years, their love for each other prevailed
