Poem by Kishwar Naheed on #Malala :
They are those who are afraid of little girls..
They seem, fittingly to dislike education and enlightenment
They claim to be following the will of God, Who commands us to seek Learning!
THat is one command they Blithely ignore, With contradictory fervor and zeal
You shall NOT put books in those hands, Nor pens in those fingers
They need not be able to write their names even, And what value us there in afemale name?
Let's just rid society of the notion of female identity
And they are those who are afraid of little girls, They eagerly move from city to coty, shouting loudly
That every girl approaching puberty needs to be veiled, And should they have any questions, Let them be given these answers:
We don't want these girls to soar, Soar with spread wings in an open sky
We don't need these girls To be heading towards schools and offices
What good, pray tell, is that? And should there be among them one with a spark
Or any purity in their hearts
Let her become religious, We inform you what God says
And they are those who are afraid of girls, they are right here among us
Recognize them and know them! They are those who will stop at nothing
In a society that disintegrates.
But don't lose heart...Gather the strength of your own conviction and know this:
That they who are afraid of little girls, How puny they must be in stature.
