Hai @AdamLambert fans, here is some info about Caulfield Guineas Day, Sat 13 Oct. Adam will perform after the last race, at about 5.40pm, on the Fashion & Entertainment stage (no info on how long he will be on for). World times: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?msg=Adam+Lambert+performs+at+Caulfield+Guineas+Day+2012&iso=20121013T1740&p1=152

The gates open at 9.30am and the first race (out of 9) is at 12.30pm. Lots happening throughout the day - basic info here: http://www.melbourneracingclub.net.au/the-races/caulfield/racedays-and-events/2012-10-13

Caulfield Guineas Day is one of the big days of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival, which is held every year in October and November and is attended by hundreds of thousands of people. The biggest day of all is Melbourne Cup Day, on the first Tuesday in November, for which Melburnians get a public holiday (yes, for a horse race). Here is Time Out Melbourne's guide to the carnival: http://www.au.timeout.com/melbourne/spring-racing-carnival

At the event, you're not allowed to bring alcohol, glass containers, flags/banners larger than 1mx1m, whistles/horns/vuvuzelas etc. ALSO: 'The making or distribution of broadcasts, telecasts, commentary interviews, news report or statistics (by any means in any format or media including any such commentary made by mobile phone or other wireless device) is expressly forbidden.' Ninjas beware.

You ARE allowed to bring a fold-up chair. If you have a general admission ticket and don't want to stand all day, a fold-up chair could be a very good thing to bring!

Regarding the day in general, there is a good 'Beginner's Guide' here: http://www.melbourneracingclub.net.au/the-races/beginners-guide (don't forget to click on the headings at the side).

The Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival is famous for fashion. My advice is to have fun and get dressed up - including a hat or 'fascinator'. Excellent basic advice for women and men here: http://www.melbourneracingclub.net.au/the-races/beginners-guide/fashion-and-style.

Note that the weather could do anything - Melbourne in spring is notoriously unpredictable. Just in the past week, we've had one freezing day with hail and showers and a maximum temperature of 13C/55F; one perfect sunshiney day of 25C/77F; a warm and very windy day of 27C/81F; and a cool sunny day of 18C/64F with a chilly breeze. The Caulfield Guineas Day could literally be ANY kind of weather. Keep your eye on the forecast! And remember: whatever the forecast, wear sunscreen! You WILL burn, even on a cloudy day.

Happy to answer any questions you might have. xxx
