[NEWS TRANS] FTIsland is already 6 year band. The image of the band being made by a company system have been following FTIsland like a tail. Really the past 6 years was a time to shake this image off.
"if it's to a extent that our fans can feel it we are more angry and disappointed. It's time wen we have a more band-like appearance. It's been 3 years since our last full album so we strongly suggested on promoting only based on our own songs but it's a fact that we could only find a agreement point."(Lee Jae Jin)
Really this time in FTIsland's 4th full album 'FIVE TREASURE BOX', apart from title song 'I wish', 'LIFE' and 'Compass', 'Paper Plane', 'Let it go' etc. There's a lot of self-composed songs in the album. For giving up the title song they found agreement to put more of their self-composed songs.
"Receiving questions like whether we are a band made us think over our identity a lot. We should practice harder to improve our instrumental skills. We should write songs better etc we tried to continue finding methods. Actually the critics are true to a certain extent."(Choi Min Hwan)
"But the image wasn't easily changed even when we did that. Actually we don't even care about those now. We thought that instrumental and song-writing skills weren't the only conditions for a band to be more band-like. Band is just how band-like, the five people work together with each other and play well together on the stage. We are at least confident I'm that."(Choi Jong Hun)
It's obvious that they matured as much as they received the critics(?). Members laughed as they said "should we drink and smoke on stage and swear to get acknowledged as a band?"
Actually there is no answer on how they can get acknowledged as a band in the music industry. This is a especially sticky tail for FTIsland.
"We tell our problems to Boohwal's Chae Jae Min sunbaenim often and one of the unforgettable advice is 'Persuade the people around you first'. The people around me are already those who do music and performs. If we get acknowledged by them, more will acknowledge us starting from them."(Choi Min Hwan)
It means that they should make an environment to move around freely as musicians by themselves. About broadcast environment where they can't play live, the members voiced out rather strongly.
"We ask them to let us play live on broadcast many times. But it's not too easy until now. I think we have to show them more and get acknowledged by them. We wish that more seniors can help us and more juniors can come out to make this together."(Song Seung Hyun)
FTIsland is training(?) their fans as well.
"Fans used to get disappointed and leave us when we do non-idol like things last time but now they send good responses to our rough words and behavior during concert. Our fans are changing as much as our change."(Lee Jae Jin)
