Message to the British Embassy in Paris, France, concerning Julian Assange:

Hello.

I am a French supporter of Julian Assange, Bradley Manning, Jeremy hammond and WikiLeaks. I have been following your treatment of the Assange case since he set foot in the United Kingdom in September 2010. He is innocent of the trumped-up charges held against him in Sweden, and has tangible grounds to fear for the respect of his rights, were he to go there.

The entire world knows this, and is watching the UK as you come out of the Olympic Games, that you successfully held in London. What kind of message would you be addressing the world's population (I don't mean those who are after him, especially in the USA - they represent a negligible proportion of the global human population), if you were to jump on the man who at the present moment most represents real freedom of expression, for the apparent reason (?) that Washington has asked it of you...?

It's fine diplomatic play to side with your allies, but this one man and his work are more important to us than just about everybody else! Therefore, it is my honour to request from you that you look favourably on the idea that it should be Britain's pride to honour the freedom of the press, and Her Majesty's citizens, by allowing one of the most foremost of them to carry on his journey - to which he has a right, and which surpasses heinous velleities from across the Atlantic.

Thank you for your attention.
