My open letter to @ChickFilA and their supporters:

After reading an immense amount of comments from people that call themselves "Christians" on Chick-Fil-A's Facebook page, I decided to write the following letter.

"It is time to get something clear... If you think that it is ok to begin any sentence with the words "God hates these people because...," then not only are you implying that God hates his children, but that God makes mistakes. God's word is infallible, and he loves all his children equally. That is the first thing you are taught in Sunday School.

As for your claims that "The Bible says so..." - please do not use your ignorance and misunderstanding of the teachings the Bible contains. While The Bible does state that "homosexual acts" are a sin, it never outlines what those homosexual acts are.(Feel free to read over Mark, Matthew, and Galatians). There is no mention of same-sex marriages or partnerships in the Bible, either for or against. The omission is probably because these issues were not even considered in Biblical times. And trust me, it's not like there weren't any gay people back then.

Please also remember that The Bible, while many Christians consider it the word of God (and I am not stating otherwise), was not written by God himself. It was written by people who knew people who knew Jesus. And that's just the New Testament. The Bible remains central to Christianity, but it is a moral compass. Would you really stone a person to death? Didn't think so.

Let us remember that Jesus stood up for the sick, the outcasts, the prostitutes and the unwanted. Jesus teaches us to respect, love, and take care of one another. To do otherwise is to ignore the word of Christ himself. I have no doubts he would be first in line to advocate for same-sex marriage.

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. (NIV, Matthew 7:1-2)"

While you reserve the right to believe whatever it is you want to believe, as it is rightful that you do so, Chick-fil-A is company that provides services to the public. As they have stated that the debate of same-sex marriage is to be left to the government, their ongoing support of anti-gay groups is a hypocritical act that angers many. And that is the issue.

People are not here to hate you, and they are most certainly not here to judge you. People are here to stand up for the rights of people who, by no fault or cause of their own, somehow do not enjoy the same rights you, as a straight person, do.

In the famous words of George Takei - If you don't like gay marriage, do not get gay married.

And to any members of the LGBT community reading this - JESUS IS YOUR HOMEBOY.

Much love."
