He is eccentric, liberated, confident, openly admits to his homosexuality. - He has a great voice and charisma - fans are saying. - "Terribly trashy!" - opponents say . He recorded two solo albums and you will have an opportunity to see him LIVE in Wroclaw with legendary Queen.
Adam Lambert is 30 years old. Fans call him "Glambert." He is singer, songwriter ,musican ,he was musical actor in the past.He became famous three years ago as a participant 8th edition of "American Idol," He finished 2nd. He recorded two albums filled with hit pop music with funk, rock and dance beats. "Tresspassing", was released in May, is promoted by the singles "Better Than I Know Myself" and "Never Close Our Eyes".
As his his greatest inspiration Lambert mentions Michael Jackson, Madonna, Christina Aguilera, Timbaland, No Doubt, as well as David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles and Queen.
On July 7th you will have a chance to see him preforming live with Queen during the "Rock in Wroclaw Festival". This will be one of only three (?) opportunities to see Queen and Adam in Europe, at least in the nearest future.


Paul Petrovich: Your second album debuted on the first place of "Billboard", you are going to sing with Queen ... Have you ever dreamed about it a few years ago, when you finished "American Idol" on the 2nd place ?

ADAM LAMBERT: Not at all. But when i have more to do that is def better for me ... I like it . I love this crazy and challenging life - only then we can talk about real fun.

Looking at you on stage, in pictures or in interviews it is easy to see that you have very high confidence. Did you have to learn it or is something innate?

I was not always such a open and confident person. I was living in LA and this fact helped me for sure ... While living there, I saw and experienced everything, if you know what I mean [laughs].

Sex drugs & rock'n'roll?

Occasionally [laughs].I learned that you have to do your own and do not apologize for everything.


Do you think that your personality and confidence helped you to be "new temporary Queen vocalist ?Do you think it was the reason why Brian May and Roger Taylor choose you and asked you to do it?

First of all I think they like how I am acting and singing on stage. First time we performed together three years ago during the final of "American Idol" - and we did "We Are the Champions". Earlier this year, they asked me to perform at the MTV Music Awards - of course I agreed. It was great.
I'm really honored and thrilled that I will play with Queen this several full concerts.

Aren't you affraid ? To enter the shoes of Freddie Mercury? Many will say: "Sacrilege!"

Let them talk. So many times I sang other people's songs, so I'm used to it. I know people /QUEEN FANS / have huge expectations and concerns regarding this concerts . But I also have MY expectations and MY expectations are important to me. To perform with Queen is a dream come true for me so I am not going to let you down ... I believe that Freddie will also like it .We are going to do our job - we will go on stage with great music and we are going to rock the stage.

Brian May and Roger Taylor are much older than you. Does it matter? Does it make any impact on your collaboration?

It doesn't matter. Everything is perfect, we understand each other perfectly . Of course they have much more musical experience than me. For me it's exciting, because I feel that I can learn something from them - and that means that I'll become a better artist. First of all we all are musicians. We go on stage and play.And this is most important.

Do you have a favorite Queen album ?

Oh no, is really hard to choose. I do not have a favorite Queen song, but always have fun with "Another One Bites the Dust".

Have you ever talked about recording an album with them /Queen/?

No i haven't ... But who knows what future brings...

How important was Freddie in your life?

Tremendously. Not only as an artist, singer, composer and showman. Nobody else had such a charisma. He was also a great personality and one of the first musicians publicly admitted for being gay.


You always openly talk about your sexual orientation.

I see no reason why I shouldn't talk about it . I've always talked about it openly , even when I was a teenager. It's my life and my happiness.
I wasn't going to hide anything ,that woul be fake ... , I understand that some people do not like it but i don't care. I also understand that some people do not have enough courage to come out with their sexuality...

These all your extravagant costumes/clothes and hairstyles ... Is this part of you / is this real you ?


Exactly. I love extravaganza - all that different, crazy, eccentric styles . This is my way to express myself . Being different is just normal for me.

Is this fierce image helping you in your career?

I identify myself with the gay rights movement, I'm part of it. But I never talked about my sexuality to make my person more popular . The media still ask about my sexuality . Since I have nothing to hide, I am always happy answer to all those questions. My sexuality always becomes the main subject of the article or interview [laughs]... /not his music/
Let me say you this "if I could not sing, nobody would care about me... And probably I would not have a chance to sign a contract for my first album ..."

What is the most suprising thing of being popular ?

Discipline... People think that singing and being a musican is a permanent party time. Nothing more incorrect, you have to be focused all the time, you have to care about your voice ,you have to practice all the time.


There is a moving ballad "Outlaws Of Love" on your latest album - you sing about the difficulties that people with your orientation have to deal with every day , have you noticed any changes yet ?

For sure, but there is still so much to do . And this song actually talks about it. The whole album is about breaking down barriers and the right to free, unfettered love. The right to be yourself , which involves also the subject of marriages of same-sex , adoption ...

Do you want to have kids?

Maybe not now, but in the future - why not? Me and my partner do not rule out anything.
There are many possiblites - not just adoption ;0) I can sacrifice myself ... [laughs].



Does it bother you when people criticize you ?

Not really. Let people write and say whatever they want. But I must admit there were things I've read in the past that hurted me a little but now I simply do not care. People do not like what is "different" ,people get scared of people who are "different"...

The title of your second album is "Tresspassing" [stands for the infringement, invasion of someone else's land - Onet.PL], I this a message?

Absolutely. The tittle song, is about who I am as an artist and man. I invite the listeners to break into my world. I'm someone who only does what his heart tells. Joy, sorrow, rebellion, distance. I will not allow anyone to stop me. The whole album is about breaking the rules, do not care about anything, it is just me.
I told my label that I am going to be co-composer of most songs and executive producer of the album, and even the designer of the cd box :)

Did they agree with that ?

They had no other choice... I like to have control over what I do. This is the only way to give you the highes quality product .



The first part of your album is mostly happy and dancing, and the second part is more subdued, reflective and emotional.Was it intentional?


Absolutely. It is a kind of balance that reflects who I am. The whole album is a representation of light and dark side of life. I speak about love, also in the context of happiness and suffering. Trying to show how wonderful love is buy I also admit that we all make mistakes and failures are present in our lives . I think each of us has more than one face, the various aspects of their personality, for better and worse days. I sing about feelings... We all want love and intimacy, we want to feel strong and attractive. On the other hand,we have broken hearts, we feel uncertainty, we feel fear...

On the first record you had a chance to work with Lady Gaga - she wrote the song "Fever". How was it ?

It was an unique experience. She is incredibly creative and talented person, and everything what she does even when she sits down at the piano is amazing . She also is wildly eccentric, and loves the unfettered freedom. I think she is my soul mate...

From what I know, you have never been to Poland. Do you have any special plans for your visit ?

I'm going to do some sightseeing. I am going to stay there a few days so... Who knows, maybe I will choose to do " night escapade" [laughs].
