Dearborn Heights: Burglar caught red-handed by police.

A 50-year-old Inkster man was arrested Sunday night after police watched him removing items from a garage two blocks east of Beech Daly on Colgate.

Police were dispatched about 11:30 p.m. when a homeowner reported an unknown man rummaging through her garage.

She said she was made aware of his presence when she heard glass break and subsequently looked outside to see him removing things from the garage. When officers arrived on the scene the suspect was still inside. They ordered him to stop, but he fled out the back and then through backyards.

With the help of a police K-9 the suspect was eventually apprehended at Andover and Beech Daly. Police said there was blood on the floor of the garage and when they took the man into custody he had fresh cuts on his hands and a bloody glove in his back pocket.
