Sauli Koskinen won Big Brother 2007 in Finland, has been working in media since, but really rocketed to a household name when it became public that he's dating Adam Lambet and moving to LA. Sauli Koskinen's interview with YleX Weekend Lifestyle Slot is about fashion show Näytös XII and men's fashion in general.

Host: At the weekend lifestyle slot mine and producer Inari's guest is, mediaperson, style whiz and Hollywood's Finnish face SAULI KOSKINEN. Welcome!

Thank you! Those were so fine terms about me! (Laughter)

H: Welcome on behalf of both of us! You have arrived from the red carpets and glamour to the ordinary Finland. How does it feel to back home and talk Finnish?

It feels great to be back! I haven't been here for a year so that I could just walk down the streets. Yesterday I took a tram. I haven't done that for a long time, for over a year. And I just felt this is just amazing!

H: Wonderful! Are you more excited or relaxed now than in LA when doing interviews?

Mmm, well I haven't given any interviews in LA. So I was a bit nervous about coming here. And I didn't know since I haven't been here for a while - how people will take me (welcome me) and also since I haven't spoken Finnish language for a long time. But all in all, I feel great!

H: You're doing just fine!

Speaking just fine! No language barriers. I have quite a few Finnish friends in LA, so I do speak Finnish there as well.

H: YleX and Finns now have a special treat with your interview. How do you feel about this does an interview in a gray YLE studio feel like anything when you have been to e.g. Ellen DeGeneres show that is really huge?

Of course this is great, and I’m still a bit nervous. Will I reply correctly to questions? And so on.

H: This is not a quiz.

I know it isn’t. And that is something I’m not going to do with my intellectual. (Laughter)

H: Sauli Koskinen you hosted at the end of May, a fashion show Näytös 2012, that was live 1,5 hours spectacle. How was that to host such a long and live show? How did it feel to do such a job?

Absolutely amazing! (Finnish = ihan mahtavalta - can also be translated - just fine – we Finns are a wee bit modest) It was absolutely fantastic that I was able to host it. I was really nervous how it all will be realized, and I haven’t done something like that previously. But. Well. It felt good.

H: What did you learn?

At least I learned how a live show is done for TV. It was an absolute chaos. At one point I had a feeling that this will not work. There were so many cameras where I was supposed to look at and the cards – I had 34 of them in my hands, and then it jumped from like from card no 2 to 6, and at one point I was so confused. At first I was really nervous, but then that eased, but still I had a feeling that this is not going to work out. (Giggles)

I still haven't watched the recording – I know there’s a lot of mistakes. But one learns from the mistakes. I really should, within the next few days, watch it. In my own time.

H: Will you be doing similar TV jobs in the future?

It would be amazing to be able to do these. And especially these kinds of things in the future. I’m open to such opportunities. If there’s interesting offers, I’m sure I’ll take them and would like to do them in the future. I’m not pushing myself in doing those, but it would be nice if these kind of things would open doors and I would be able to do something even bigger.

H: Is the fashion the field that interests you? Or?

Fashion interests me, yes. But not only fashion. I’d like to say that I’m interested in challenges.

H: In addition to being a host in live TV show, you’ve also bee modeling for a US based fashion magazine Fault. Total of 7 pages pics and strory. In a moment.

(Laughter – they introduced Sauli again after some music) It sounds so amazing to hear the Intro again – to hear all the terms. I’m listening if you’re coming up with something new every time.

H: Unfortunately we did not have a red carpet.

Shame. I noticed - it sort of stood out. (Laughs)

H: You were able to try modeling when US based fashion magazine Fault completed a 7 page fashion article about you. How was the fashion shoot? How did it all happen?

I need to clarify first that the pictures were taken in January / February. We have completed this separately. There were no Fault photographers, but my US friend, Estonian girl Liis, took the photos. And then with a small group we have been able to get the pics to Fault. There were no separate Fault photographers taking the pics. I can say that Fault was really excited about the pics and wanted to do a huge story. So fantastic!

H: You left Finland for Hollywood as a relatively ordinary Finnish man. How has your style changed?

I somehow can take more risques (in style) in LA than here. I don’t know what it is but I’ve always have been the same. When I go abroad I can try out new things and be more adventurous. More so than in Finland. It has changed, but my style changes – let’s say – every year. It moves ahead or to some other direction. It's always interesting to look at old photos and see for yourself that your style has changed. And then you think what the hell was I wearing 2 years ago. And the point was that in US I can dress a bit more bold than here.

H: You have been able to attend some red carpet parties. And have been amongst huge stars. What kind of pressure do the parties bring to dressing up and otherwise?

I don’t know. For men it’s quite easy, when you go to red carpet parties, you must have a suit. It of course depends on the function. But many occasions have a dress code. And that really does not bring pressure, when men look realitively similar in their suits. But then the people around you, stars, they were at first – Help! there goes so and so – but then you get used to it. When you see the same people in supermarkets. Nowadays I feel ok to see real stars in LA.

H: Who have been WOW persons for you?

So many.

H: Is it really like that that you just meet people in shops or walking down a street?

I have so bad memory for names. But lets say Hugh Jackman was just eating at the same restaurant, Maroon 5's singer was in the same groceries store. I’ve seen so many. Who would be like that. Perhaps Beyoncé and Lady Gaga. Whoo! (Laughs)

H: Then. At least when you look at the pictures, you and Adam have similar styles. Do you use each others’ wardrobes a lot? Like - I’ll borrow this shirt.

No we don’t. We both have our own clothes.

H: Do you get lots of offers from designers? Or do you, Sauli, get offers to use my outfit for the party?

No, I choose my own outfits. I don’t think they have such a system that someone calls in and says can you take this. In my opinion in Finland this is used more, like, Could you use this shirt I made? I don’t think it works like that in US. Even bigger stars they make the decision themselves what labels they’d like to use. And not really listening to anyone trying to push them to wear something.

H: Could you go and say e.g. to Chanel that I’d like this and this, and could I borrow them?

Even that is such a system, that you do buy things for yourself. I does not work in a way that I’d walk in to Chanel that I’d like to borrow this suit and then return it. (Laughs – a lot) I’m not going to Chanel. I can tell you an example: I was in the Elton John party. I bought my suit from Top Shop already previously, and then I took it to tailors for slimming. And just recently I order a suit online when I found one cheap and it looked really good. I take it to the tailors and then it becomes good looking, and no-one is going to ask how much it was. And then I can always say that this costs 10.000, when it really costs 150 €.

H: That was a good tip! For all of us!

Yes yes. Then you change a different shirt, more expensive tie, etc. That’s the way you can modify a lot. I’m not always trying to get everything inexpensive.

H: Sauli, you’re now in Finland. For how long?

Not really that long. Few weeks in total. I have plans after Finland to stay in Europe. Sometime in July back to LA. Midsummer plans are still open. I have no idea where I’ll be.

H: This means that if you’d like to invite Sauli over for Midsummer, send him a message

Messages yes. I don’t know yet in which part or the world I'll be – if I’m in Finland, or Europe, or LA. Everything is still open.

H: Thank you for visiting YleX Weekend Lifestyle Slot

This was amazing.

H: Greetings to Hollywood

I will say!
