Howdee.
We decided we should list show dates for our upcoming Mid-Summer Tour AGAIN because, frankly, it's been a little confusing. Like, our Cornerstone gig got cancelled (see tweet from a few weeks ago) AND we just added more shows today.
But besides all that, things like 'this' happen all the time: someone from Chicago just begged us to come to Chicago on this tour! SO flattering and nice. Um, but we are coming to Chicago - Shubas on 7/10! :)
Almost every tour, we'll get communications like... ok someone from NYC will say, "Please come to NYC!!" ~ the day after we were there. Ahhhh!!! That makes us feel terrible. It's sad. We both missed out. It happens in every market, on every tour.
How does this happen? Well, we can't expect everyone to be plugged into all our combined on-line blatherings. Everyone has real lives. It's a tough thing to figure out. And bands don't really like being self-promotional.
Promoters do their best but frankly, sometimes it's not enough. You know – show after show, night after night, they push... but how hard? We think they really try but come on... they put tiny adds in the the same newspaper rags that nobody reads, they list the show on their venue site, etc... maybe they tweet it. Some promoters get the word out way better than others but most often, it's not enough; fans don't find out. Honestly, it takes all of us.
Maybe we don't push enough as a band. We put the dates on our site, on fb, twitter... etc. but we're thinking we shouldn't be afraid of a little repetition.
