@PyroPuppy - It depends. Usually the biggest culprit for game performance in Flash is an overuse of vector art in movieclips. You could try bitmap-caching non-moving parts to speed up performance - Also, you might want to consider using spritesheets or image sequences instead of vector art movieclips. The downside will be a significatnly increased filesize - Upside is faster render time. Bitmap performance in Flash is actually very fast.
