@toddderscheid asks: What are you playing these days? What games have pushed others out of circulation?

I assume you're asking about non-TMG games and games not designed by me here. I rarely buy games as my shelves are already lined with good games I don't play enough, but I recently made a purchase which included a few games I've been wanting to play. I guess my desire to play these games hit critical mass, so I went ahead and bought them! I got 3 games, one of which I had never played but was curious about, and 2 of which I had played before and wanted to try again.

Lords of Waterdeep is the game I hadn't played, but after reading a bit about it I wanted to check it out. I hadn't been able to find a copy to play, so I ended up getting my own. I am not sorry - I am very impressed with Lords of Waterdeep, I enjoy it very much. However, lately when teaching I've been leaving the Lord who scores 6vp per building and the Mandatory Quests out, as I find that makes a better first impression. I don't mind them (I think) - but Mandatory Quests in the last round when players are scrambling to finish their last high scoring quest can be really disappointing, and the Lord who scores for Buildings can get out of control if certain buildings and quests come up (I've seen 13 building in play! That's a lot of building opportunity for that particular Lord!), so I don't miss playing with them.

The Manhattan Project, by @miniongames, I had played once (at BGG.con) and enjoyed. I have been wanting to play it again ever since. Now that I own it I have gotten a couple of plays in, and I really enjoy it.

Venture Forth is a game that I played once (at GAMA, before it came out) and I was surprised at how much I liked it. I don't remember everything about it, and I haven't played yet since it arrived, but I look forward to getting it to the table.

As for what's been pushed out of rotation...

I haven't played Dominion or Race for the Galaxy since Eminent Domain. Partly that's because I've been working on #EmDo, but also because I'd just rather play #EmDo than either of those. Other than that, not much has been "pushed out of rotation" - as I don't really have a "rotation" to speak of.

P.s. Also played recently: Pret-a-Porter, and a whole lot of EmDo expansion ;)
