Int, mystic falls high. Teachers lounge. Day.

We open up on an old coffee maker. A hand enters frame, and removes the coffee pot. We pull back to reveal, Alaric, pouring himself some coffee. The Principal, Mrs Ashley, enters the lounge... Alaric turns around, and is pleasantly surprised as she walks up to the coffee maker....


Alaric: Mrs. Ashley.
Mrs. Ashley: Morning, Mr Saltzman.
There's a brief moment of silence as she goes to make a coffee...
Alaric: So how have you been adjusting to Mystic Falls?
Mrs. Ashley: It's been a process, to be honest with you.
Alaric: Oh yeah?
Mrs. Ashley: Well, my husbands been out of town for work. Which means I've been left with a whole house to unpack by myself.
Alaric: That's fun. So where's your husband?
Mrs . Ashley: London.
Alaric: Really? Why London?
Mrs. Ashley: He's in finance.
Alaric: Interesting.
Mrs Ashley: No, not really.
Alaric: Ok, its not.
Mrs. Ashley: I'm sorry. That sounded bad. I'm just tired.
Alaric: I understand. Moving is a strain.
Mrs. Ashley: That's an understatement, Mr Saltzman.
Alaric: Sounds to me like you need to get out of your house a bit more.
Mrs Ashley: Is that what I sound like?
Alaric: I'm afraid so.
[Mrs Ashley laughs at this.]
Mrs Ashley: Well that can't be good.
Alaric: Did you know that Mystic Falls has a drive-in movie theater?
[Mrs. Ashley, lights up.]
Mrs. Ashley: No I didn't. Are you serious??
Alaric: Very... Do you like classic movies?
Mrs. Ashley: Who doesn't??
Alaric: High school kids.
[She laughs at this.]
Alaric: Anyway, thats all they play there.
Mrs. Ashley: You're kidding me, right?
Alaric: Do you like Spencer Tracy?
Mrs Ashley: Love Spencer Tracy.
Alaric: How About Woody Allen?
Mrs Ashley: One of my all-time favorites.
Alaric: Well then, you're in luck. There's a double feature playing tonight: Anne Hall, and Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde.
Mrs Ashley: Wait. Spencer Tracy was in Dr Jekyll & Mr Hide?
Alaric: I know, I was surprised by that too
Mrs Ashley: That's a strange paring.
Alaric: Yeah, I'm curious.
[He looks at her and smiles.]
Alaric: So.... You wanna go?
[Mrs. Ashley looks at Alaric.]
Mrs Ashley: Did you not here the part about my husband?
[Alaric smiles at this]
Alaric: I only heard the part where he was out of town.
