Ladies & Gents, I give you the "Fuel Poverty Advisory Group"; part of the DECC. It's there to fight the good fight in the ongoing battle against fuel poverty and speak up on the public's behalf.

Here's its remit:

to consider and report on the effectiveness of current policies aiming to reduce fuel poverty
to consider and report on the case for greater co-ordination
to identify barriers to reducing fuel poverty and to developing effective partnerships – and to propose solutions
to consider and report on any additional policies needed to achieve a reduction in fuel poverty
to encourage key organisations to tackle fuel poverty
to consider and report on the results of work to monitor fuel poverty.

All very fine words, except its not working and never has been seen to work. There appears to be too much rapaciousness, greed and lip service on the part of long since privatised energy companies.

In fact, going on the FPAG's results to date, I'd say they're a joke.

Here are its members. (Luckily for them, many are employed by cash rich outside organisations (such as rapacious and greedy energy companies - so there's hardly an incentive there to fight for the consumer and effectively slit their own throats).

If they were not handsomely remunerated by their employers and paid on FPAG performance alone, they would certainly NOT be able to afford to pay their heating bills)
