ALL BARS/RESTAURANTS MUST STOP MUSIC AT MIDNIGHT! EVEN JUKEBOX? WTF? READ MORE!
On Tuesday, January 17th at 6pm our elected officials (City Council members) will vote on a zoning change that will affect your favorite bar or restaurant as you know it.
The City Council is trying to undermine not only small business owners but also everyone who goes to restaurants, bars and nightclubs located in Charlotte. They are trying to put a stop to music and entertainment INSIDE a business after midnight if they are located within 400' of a residential dwelling. (A football field is 300')
For example, the entertainment oriented neighborhoods of NoDa, Plaza Midwood, Elizabeth, Dillworth, Montford Drive, etc. will no longer be able to have live music INSIDE their bars and restaurants after midnight if this passes. We are not just talking about live music, this means ALL entertainment would stop including the jukebox, pool, corn hole, and more! Imagine, you're having a beer at your favorite spot and at midnight, it all goes silent. By the way, do you know who will be exempt from this new zoning law? All bars and restaurants in Uptown. That's right, all those places can continue to do what they want after midnight. Our City Council is trying to move business into Uptown by making it unattractive to hang out anywhere else.
This is not fiction, it's happening now!!! The city is keeping this as quiet as they can, hoping people wont hear about it. If this passes many small local businesses will be forced to close down.
We encourage you to call and email the City Council member that represents the district of your favorite bar or restaurant and let them know how you feel. Let your voice be heard!!! Please!!
