Dover - Shepherdswell disruption: On 4 January 2012 one of our inspection and maintenance teams discovered a break within a set of points at a junction between Dover and Shepherdswell. The line was immediately closed for further investigation.
The break is in a section that cannot be replaced with ordinary rail. So a complete replacement section must be manufactured. Manufacturing has begun.
The replacement will be installed on 28/29 January. This is the earliest opportunity to carry out the work. The line between Shepherdswell and Dover Priory will remain closed until then.
Meanwhile, we will be investigating how this break happened in the first place.
We are very sorry for the inconvenience this causes to people. Safety must be our top priority and we cannot safely run trains over this section until the replacement work is done.
