Adversity. We all face it. It is in every aspect of our lives, from relationships to careers. Adversity is the "gift" given to us to help us improve...whether you are a football player or a stay-at-home parent. Adversity humbles us. Adversity keeps our feet firmly planted on the ground, lest our heads remain in the clouds. Adversity breeds greatness.

Complacency. Most of us are drowning in it. We feel that since nothing has gone wrong, nothing WILL go wrong. Complacency is a demon...one that prevents us from seeing beyond the end of our collective noses. Complacency weakens us. Complacency causes our thoughts to wander away from the task at hand. Complacency erodes greatness.

View adversity as a teacher, one that helps you see the light...to understand that you are a mortal, and prone to the occasional mistake. Adversity teaches us loss...and it is what we do with that life lesson that will determine if we are worthy of greatness.

And loss is a painful thing. Nobody likes the way that loss makes them feel. It is ugly, unpleasant, and at times unbearable. Take that loss, and the way it makes you feel...bury it in the pit of your stomach where you can feel its bitterness. USE IT. FEED OFF OF IT. RISE ABOVE IT.

The line must be drawn HERE.

For if we never learn to lose, we will never truly learn to WIN.

Adversity is the gravestone upon which I have built my church. AND. I. WILL. RISE. AGAIN.
